Really odd. I lost weight a couple of years ago after having my dd, I got to 10 stone 10ish at my very lowest (5 foot 8) but basically my weight leveled off over the next year or so and maintained at 11 stone 10. I was lighter than I was pre pregnancy.

So, my ds is now 19 weeks (tomorrow) and I managed to gain a massive amount of weight due to the pregnancy. All the excuses in the world as usual I suppose but had given up the cigarettes and ate every time I wanted one (which was ALOT).

Im trying to loose what I gained. I had ds on a Monday, started following weight watchers on Wednesday. I have no idea what my starting weight was because obviously, I dropped quite a bit with baby, blood, fluid etc.. in the first couple of weeks.

When he was 2 weeks old I am horrified to admit I weighed 15 stone 6lbs . Ive taken my diet to more of an extreme and as of this morning I weigh 12 stone 11lbs.

I kept telling myself that once I got back to 11 stone 10lbs, I would be back to "myself" and back in my clothes etc as common sense would imagine that if they fit me at this weight last year, they would fit me at this weight this year - regardless of pregnancy.

Anyway, I am nowhere near getting back in my clothes (mostly size 10 some 12s and some 8s - depending on shop), although technically Im only a stone away from pre pregnancy weight. The last time I lost weight, when I got to this weight (12.11) I was definately a size 14, almost going into a 12 - without a doubt. This time Im a good size 16, a 14 (on bottom anyway) is waaaay too tight (and sore!!). I obviously understand that my stomach is flabbier and wobblier given that I've just had my second baby but it appears that my whole body has had an extreme change of shape!!! I just cant understand it!!. Its not down to me having more muscle last time, I have to admit I am rubbish with exercise and lost weight through diet only.

Have mothers of more than one experienced this at all? very confused. Thank you (sorry so long)

I have had 3 babies.

It has taken longer to lose the weight each time but I think I am basically the same shape.

6 months after baby 1, 12 months after baby 2 and I am currently 2 stone heavier than I was on when baby 3 was 2 months old.

I have just lost 45 lbs (7lbs to go to goal weight) after dd2. I am now lighter than I have been for over 15 years - and the combination of a big weight loss and two kids means I am a radically different shape.

I used to be an hour glass - small waist, braod hips and generous bust. Even after DD1 and a bit of weight loss, that was still essentially my shape.

Now - no bust, even smaller waist and bizarre jodphur thighs. I have no idea how to dress.

Oh - and that saggy, wobbly tummy thing too. I am a bit gutted tbh, as I somehow thought that if I ever got to a size 12/14 I'd be inexplicabley toned and gorgeous. I wasn't banking on being smaller but still flabby.

cyb · 06/06/2010 14:55

I am same shape after 3 children.

I fact I'm in better shape

BarbieLovesKen · 06/06/2010 15:06

Duchess - well done on your loss to date!! thats fantastic - has it taken you long? - I was the same after dd, when I eventually got to my size 10 (I was very big beforehand), I still had that saggy tummy and was annoyed as had expected to be toned - without the hardship of exercise LOL.

Fab and cyb.. interesting.. it looks like its just me

11 long, hard, tedious salad-filled months. And the prospect of several more weeks at least.....

fwiw, my sister completely changed shape after her two boys. She was never a porker like me - but she lost her bust and became much more straight-up-and-down.

GettinTrimmer · 06/06/2010 18:17

Still an apple shape here, no change.

TheNextMrsDepp · 06/06/2010 18:23

I'm one of those annoying Victoria Beckham-types who ended up lighter than pre-pg after each baby (I have 3). I'm sure you didn't want to hear that. However, my waist is definitely thicker than it was.

twinkle183 · 06/06/2010 18:36

I have three babies....

I snapped back in to my size 10 trousers within weeks of ds1, dd1 required a little exercise and took a couple of months and ds2 am still trying to get it off... was 11st 12lbs am now 10st 8lbs and am really chuffed! To be honest I had a bad time with ds2, had mastitis twice while breast feeding so wasn't really concentrating on the weight loss.. started a couple of months ago... am doing really well and looking forward to getting back in to my pre-pregnancy jeans....!!

Don't be too hard on yourself duchess your get there...

MarmMummy · 06/06/2010 18:38

I've changed shape for certain - not a weight thing particularly either.

My back is broader, and dresses don't fit around my middle/chest - as if my ribs haven't gone back in.

Also, very randomly, my 'body' seems longer so lots of tops are too short. What's all that about??!

ManeaterMayhem · 06/06/2010 18:39

Yup, I had clothes that I bought after having DD1, that I went to wear when I reached a similar weight after DS and they just looked plain wrong. Fitted in all the wrong places.

Same with my corset Custom made slightly longer to cover my hips and belly. Fitted perfectly pre DD2, and now it is a weird shape on me and I need the standard length!

ouryve · 06/06/2010 20:09

I've had 2 kids. Figure wise, my waist is much thicker, now and my arse has vanished - I used to be quite pear shaped and small on top but now I have boobs (albeit saggy ones) and nothing to hang my jeans off.

Last time I was the weight I am now (in my early 20s!), I was something like 33-27-37. I'm now 36.5-31-36.5! I have a lot of loose belly flab that I can't and probably never will get rid of, since I'm perimenopausal, these days.

traceybath · 06/06/2010 20:13

I'm the same shape after 3 dc's in fact am slimmer now than I have been in years - DD is 10 months old.

I put on less weight in 3rd pregnancy and something in my head just clicked and I lost all my weight and more.

Well I say same shape - obviously boobs and tummy aren't quite what they were but arms and legs slimmer.

19 weeks post baby is still very early days though - you're doing really well!

BarbieLovesKen · 06/06/2010 21:14

Aw thank you traceybath. Feel like I should be well back by now

Thanks all - feel slightly less freakish now!!

Me too - pre-DC I was a typical pear shape regardless of what size I was, I was always bigger on my bottom than on top and I struggled with trousers as they would be hard to pull over my big thighs/bum but be too baggy round the waist.

2 DC later, 4 stone on later (2 stone with each DC), 3 1/2 stone off following a 12-month diet/intensive exercise routine.....I am now probably more hourglass but with a big tummy My bottom and thighs are more of a match with my shoulders....but, now, if trousers fit perfectly round my bottom and thighs, I cannot do them up...but to get trousers that are comfortable round my waist, they just look baggy round my bottom and legs.

I am still 7lbs off my target weight but I fear my wobbly saggy tummy is here to stay - it has shrunk dramatically since I started my diet but I honestly can't see that it is going to disappear once these 7lbs have gone. I hate having a bulgy tummy as I always always had such a flat tummy before Tbh, I would be happy with the size I am now (12-14) if it wasn't for my tummy

2cats2many · 06/06/2010 21:24

I'm certainly more apple shaped since #2. I exercise, do pilates AND watch what I eat, but I just can't shift my flabby middle.
