Try The Harcombe Diet - once you get past Phase 1, which only lasts 5 days, it doesn't feel like a diet at all. I am just finishing my second week and have lost 6lbs so far. I used to eat all sorts of processed junk and now I eat real food, as much as I like, and don't miss or crave the c**p I used to eat. On Phase 2 you don't eat fats with carbs and even as a vegetarian, I manage just fine. Google it and see what you think! The author has lots of YouTube videos and the message board is fab.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

ok stop thinking DIET

stop slimfast straight away

dont BUY anything diet related (says she reading The Dukan diet book but I've lost a stone recently so its ok)

Plan your meals each day.

Stop eating white bread/cakes/biscuits.

Stop buying them. I cant stress this enough.

Eat half of what you normally would.

Stop sugar in tea etc.

try to stop snacking. But if you do, nibble a bit of ham or an oatcake not a biscuit

thanks cyb. do you find that not buying the bad food stops you eating it. i have been shopping today and appart from organix bars for my daughter and organix carrot risp that i really hate i haven bought anything bad ( well except the toblerone but i already shamefully ate that
thanks for the great tips tho. ive just started weaning my daughter on to food properly so ahe only breastfeeds twice a day now. im feeling that may help considerably.
cheers

yes of course not having the bad food stops you eatijng it. An don one misses it really. there was a good article in The Times yesterday about eating better and it said 'do not eat anything your great grandmother would not recognise' citing Cheese Dippers as an example! Buying and eating fresher stuff (and less of it) will make a HUGE diference.

BUT your head HAS to be in the right place. We call it IN THE ZONE

think about being kind to your body with food rather than losing weight, and I found not weighing myself for the first month helped, I went by clothes fit rather than scales.

its good to write down what you ACTUALLY eat in a day too

Low carb is the way to go. I've lost close to 5 stone, taking me to a BMI of 22. I do agree that reduced BFing will help, it certainly did for me, unfortunately it didn't happen til the terror was 18 months old. I feel much more in control now, I really was using food as an emotional crutch before.

HurleySatOnMe · 04/06/2010 23:25

Well this is embarassing
If you are who I think you are, I've just sent you a text message
Blardy hell. Please don't out me. And you really don't need to lose that much. If you want to have the books that helped me, you know where I am

kimplus4 · 04/06/2010 23:27

Eat less. Move more. Simples. You would think. Excpet it's really hard. But it works

ok it is called the diet for life,

you eat a sensible portion of breakast, choice from things like cereal with less than 6g of sugar per 100g - that will discount most by the way and especially speacil k which has high sugar content.

you could have a bowl of porridge with a banana and an orange juice or apple juice - apple is good as it has more roughage. A couple of prines if you like or is not apricot - just three or four.

Egg poached on toast with an apple and water to drink with a squeeze of lemone in it.

mid morning break, an orange and apple, or a banana and a few seeds - no more than will fit in your hand - around one once or 40 grams. A couple of crackers or figs or a yogurt

lunch, the list is endless but my fav is to have lots of little bits so it lasts linger - start with a melon ( i chop it up on monday and take a peice each day I keep it in food bags to keep moist. Then a marmite sandwich or prawn sandwich or if at home pilchards on toast, then carrot sticks with a dessert spoon or two of humpus and then an apple chpoped and a banana - somtime I eat three anas in a day but it doesn't matter espically if they are small ones.

tea could be veggie chilli or meat chilli, always with long grain brown rice - or curry but always everything homemade and not from a jar. Pesto and pasta with creme fraich and cherry tomatoes or a tommy sauce with pasta. I like stir fry a lot aswell. Then after tea/supper I like a small pudding, perhaps strawberries cut up with melon or toast and jam

all portions would be the same size as I give my dc - not hugh but allows for a half more portion or a small pudding of frozen yogurt or a home made sponge pudding ina small bowl shared by three- I put jame or fruit at the bottom of the dish and cook the spnge misture on top in the oven - using butter not marg - insects refuse marg and will not touch it as it is to much like plastic - that says it all for me.

Do without butter - use a littke mayonasie with tuna and use just a little with a sandwich

I need to go on a diet, well I actually just started yesterday after spending the day in the garden with my ultra slim and toned friend! The trouble is, no matter what i can not seem to get tummy fat off (my little girls 3 now, so I cant even use baby belly as an excuse!) Ive heard dairy can cause a tummy fat, is this true?? Im toying with the idea of joining some sort of diet club. I need a diet which is okay for family food, and really dont have time to make seperate meals for me
