Help!! I am huge and going away on holiday on the 14th of July.....

None of my holiday clothes fit. I am the biggest I have ever been I look awful.

I am not one those lucky women who carry extra weight well.

I am going to start exercising more. I think 2-3 times a day for 20-30 mins. Is that realistic?

I have done my morning workout. I aimed for 45 mins, but it was so mind numbingly boring (wii shape) I gave up after 25 mins. It did get me nice and warm though and a bit breathless. It reckoned I had burnt 250 cals.

I am going to do my first day of the 30 day shred after work this afternoon. But no third work out today as I am at work again tonight.

Any one wanna join me in a pre holiday panic diet? Or give me any tips? Recommend any flattering holiday clothes?

Also how much weight/inches could I realistically lose with exercise and calorie control in that short space of time?

NO TO SLIMFAST either

no good for your body or soul

cyb · 03/06/2010 11:30

late dinner- open a bag of salad, some pre cooked chicken breast and a bit of dresing. whats hard about that?

you have to KNOW what you will be eating at each meal. I found this invaluable when losing weight. Or you graze, and pick and keep opening the fridge, and the biscuit tin blah blah blah

Can you tell I feel strongly about this?

BudaisintheZONE · 03/06/2010 11:30

Hi cyb!

Another thing - even if you don't come over to the Nothing Tastes thread - these are the mantras that seem to have made a difference to me:

1 Nothing Tastes as Good as Being Slim Feels
2 Will it make me happy?
3 Will it still be there when I have lost the weight?

For some reason those phrases have stuck with me.

cyb · 03/06/2010 11:32

yes same here

Hullygully · 03/06/2010 11:46

A moment on the lips......

A lifetime on the hips

Altho I only ever remember that after I've enjoyed the moment..

BudaisintheZONE · 03/06/2010 11:54

Right back atcha cyb!

Listen, no carbs is the way to go.

Drop carbs -this is not so much a diet as a change in eating habits because you are not restricting the amount you eat or going hungry. It is easy after a couple of days and you will not feel deprived.

If yuo start now and do it properly you could probably drop about 20lbs by your holiday - maybe more.

You could certaily drop half a stone in the first week or so from losing retained water.

You must never eat bread again...

Joby1970 · 03/06/2010 12:54

I would say doing a meal plan for the whole week & buying everything in advance would help - maybe buy a Slimming World Magazine & follow the plan in there. Plus exercise.

When I joined SW originally I lost a stone in 3 weeks - so if you were carefull & did exercise you could do the same by your hols & just the knowledge that you went for it would make you feel more positive on your hols.

Also I beleive that BHS have just launched a new swimming costume (£30) that makes your belly smaller!

ShinyAndNew · 03/06/2010 14:04

No bread would be fine. I only ever bread for toast anyway. And that's just greed, rather than me actually liking toast

I always get stuck with just a few meals when I do no/low carb plans and so I get bored and quit.

I have a chicken and prawn salad and the lovely lady in the shop offered me some of her own healthy options garlic and herb dressing. Which was very nice of her.

Going to do 30 day shred after dd1 has gone to her party which is at 3pm.

Not sure what to have tonight. I don't finish work until midnight.

BudaisintheZONE · 03/06/2010 15:10

What time do you start work?

Eating late can't be good for you. What about things like soup or scrambled eggs when you finish work?

ShinyAndNew · 03/06/2010 15:17

5:30pm, but I didn't get until 2pm so I won't be wanting another meal before then.

My shifts make it difficult to organise proper meals and meal times.

I work 11am till 2pm and then 5:15pm until either 11:30 or midnight. I don't really get a proper break as such, I just nip out for a fag when it's quiet.

In between shifts I usually have to either pick up dd1 from school or collect dd2 from one babysitter, give her dinner and take her back to another babysitter and also walk the dog and do any washing up/clearing of clutter that might be left from the morning/evening before.

Hence the reason I end up feeling starving and gorging on egg fried rice smothered in gravy. I don't even like egg rice that much, I am just desperate for something hot and filling by the time I finish and too knackered to contemplate cooking.

Dd2 is playing at my nans in the garden. Dd1 is over the road at a party, I am about to start my first day of the 30 day shred. Then I need to mop living room. Dog is being walked by friend later.

I'm also trying to lose a significant amount of weight before my holiday in July so will be watching with interest. I should really lose 2 stone, but realistically 1 stone by then, maybe a bit more.

I am doing low/no carbs and I've lost 7lbs in a week. It's probably not a long term solution in the really restricted form but it does give quick weight loss which is what I need right now. I'm also running 30 mins every day, and it's getting easier every day too.

The key for me is being organised. I have to plan menus several days in advance. A typical menu for me would be omelette with onion, pepper, mushroom, courgette (fried in a little olive oil) for breakfast, tuna or chicken salad with some nuts and seeds and only a little dressing for lunch, and chicken or steak or fish with roasted veg for dinner. I also do chicken casserole for whole family and serve with rice for kids, curries without rice - you can add chickpeas as well as meat to make more substantial. often there's enough left over to put in the fridge for my lunch the next day.

Seriously these meals keep me going for hours as they are high protein, I don't need snacks. Have also said no to any alcohol but that's mainly because I'm so rubbish at having only one glass - all my resolve goes when I drink. I always sit down with a glass of water and take a bottle of water whenever I go out.

Good luck, look forward to hearing how you're getting on.

I am also trying to loose about 2 stone now by September as I have a wedding to go to in Cornwall and I refuse to look like I did at the last wedding I went to... I looked so bloated as if someone had put an air pump in my mouth and pumped me up...

Am on no carbs and so far I have lost a stone.. which is great! Am restarting exercise after my college exams as every last minute (apart from now ) on revising...

Am so missing carbs but am coping okay.. have moments of weakness and then just tell myself do I need it? The answer is always the same NO!!!

You can do it if you want to just don't put added pressure on yourself... enjoy every lb loss, and don't worry if its just half a pound, a loss is a loss...

Keep going you can do it!!!

ShinyAndNew · 04/06/2010 14:32

I had Chinese last night . In my defence it was only foo yung. I fed the rice to the dog. So it's just like omelette really (really it is. I have convinced myself of that)

I slept in this morning. DH wound me up so much last night I couldn't sleep (but that is a whole other thread. He is a twunt). So I missed the Fish Mongers. I won't have time to go now.

Instead I am going to the shop/butchers to buy king prawns and chicken breast and for supper tonight I shall have king prawn and chicken stir fry with veg and garlic. If I prepare it all before work, all I will need to do is stir fry it when I get home. The dog can have the Chinese I will order him boiled chicken and rice. Dh is not getting it (childish emoticon)

I am in too much pain from the 30 Shred, yesterday to do it again today. That'll learn me for not stretching properly So I'm just going to do 30 mins on the Cross Trainer instead.

Feeling positive though. Good luck to every one who is trying

Am investing in a cross trainer.. or should I say my friend is giving me one....!!! Are they good as I am bored of running at the moment on the treadmill!

Don't worry about what happened yesterday just work on today..... you can't change yesterday but maybe if you have time to prevent you from being naughty write down how you feel and see if the two connect! That's how I break my demons.. when the kiddies whinge it winds me up and that's when I use to grab the chocolate or pizza.. I also found that I eat when I am bored! So trying to keep busy all the time...

Keep going everyone!

ShinyAndNew · 04/06/2010 15:16

I love my Cross Trainer. It's a v swanky one though, with 12 different programmes and about 20 millions of different resistance settings. We were really lucky to find it with 75% off in a Tesco clearance sale, last year.

I'm really tired atm. I can't even be bothered to go and buy coffee, let alone food . I am going to force myself to get off my butt in a mo to go on the Cross Trainer. That should energise me a bit.
