I don't want to go out

I am overweight and I am so depressed and ashamed that I no longer want to leave the house. Does anyone else feel like this and if so how do you feel better about yourself? It is the shame that really does my head in. I am not good at expressing myself but am deeply unhappy. So why can't I just sort myself out?

oh Emily, you are still gorgeous , just a lot of gorgeous

So what if you're not a skinny minny?

I bet you're lovely in rl

And I'm a fatty, btw.

me too, I have to go out because I work but I hate and dread going on nights out as clothes look awful on me.

But I am doing something about it and have already lost over a stone.

why not set yourself a healthy eating plan?

You need someone to believe in you, till you're ready to believe in yourself. You are more than just the shape of your body or what you ate last night or last week. Is there anyone (family/friends)? Or pairing up with someone on mn?
And Msboogie's right - you need some kind of action plan to make a change about food, and also how you feel. But you need to find what will work for you. I have just kept a food diary every week, and highlighted at the end of the week what I could have done without, and tried to make a few small changes for the next week.
Do you have a lot to lose?

I get like this emily. I am 10 stone over weight and I have felt just like you. I am reading this really good book at the moment, it is called 'you can heal your life' by Louise hay and it has helped me to get over this.
It is all about our internal voice and how it effects us. she also explores the fact that food issues are usually a syptom of a different problem. Deal with the real issues and your problems and the weight will deal with itself.
It has motivated me to do something about my weight.
Dont beat yourself up, it is not your fault. the more postive steps you make the more positive you will feel.
I hope this sorts out for you x

Thanks for your replies, I am trying to think of a plan that I will actually follow and stick to. I don't know why I find it so hard to take these positive steps.

Have you ever tried the Paul McKenna CD? It hasn't done a lot for my weight so far, to be honest, but it has really improved my confidence. I don't believe that self-hate is the best motivation to get think - I think self-love and self-care might work better.
