breastfeeding - Slimming World or Weight Watchers?

Am bfing DS2 (14 weeks) and really want to get on top of my weight this time around.
I never lost all from DS1 before I got pregnant again but am fed up feeling flabby and disgusting.
before I had DS1 I was a slim 12 on the bottom, before DS2 a 14. Ideally I'd love to be a 12 again.
Can get in a lot of my pre DS2 14's, but it's not that pretty!
This time I feel I should try SW or WW - it's all new to me as before the boys I never had to diet.
So tell me, which is easiest and/or most effective? Do you have to 'share stories' or anything (I'd really hate that as am quite shy).

I have been to ww before and found it really easy to stick to - although I was single then so found it easier only thinking about myself..I lost 2 stone but it took a while (average loss 1lb a week). generally you go in to the meeting get weighed, they have a little table with products to buy if you want to. Then you have the option to stay and listen to the talk. This is worth staying for, noone makes to talk although it is interesting listening to others experiences and tips, and actually after a few weeks I also felt I could share my tips too. It does depend on the 'leader' though. Get a good one and they are really motivational, a poor one and you tend not to want to stay for the talk. I have never done SW so can't comment, but actually would like to know more about it as I want to join u to one of the clubs after my baby is born...Good luck!!

Hi there

SW good because it is only club that supports pregnant and breastfeeding mums. It's eating plan is based on filling up on plenty of 'free' foods like pasta, couscous, potatoes, lots of fruit and veg and lean meat, fish, eggs and low fat dairy products. It's a healthy, balanced diet without having to count and measure everything you eat. It's good too because you'll find loads of support and ideas about recipe and meal ideas from other mums in group.

You can find out more about support for mums on the SW website www.slimmingworld.com/Health/policies-practices/pregnant-members.aspx

Whichever way you choose, good luck with your weight loss.

It's not true muminpr, that SW is the only club supporting bf mums. I've done WW 3 times whilst breastfeeding and had success each time. They allow a lot of extra points (ie food!) for breastfeeding mums and I found it came off without really trying too hard. I was never hungry and could have treats as well.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend WW - but you won't know what works for you unless you try it, I suppose. Good luck!

ww generally allows an extra 6/8p a day if bf

dottyaboutstripes · 19/04/2010 13:35

It's an extra 10 points
