I picked up this book at the library yesterday and it promises an 8 week wieght loss plan with no calorie counting and wieghing out of foods.

It's a massive fat book though, after reading 1st chapter it is making sense but hasnt told me how to lose any wieght yet LOL

Anyone used it?

This is my favourite weight loss plan. I felt good, was genuinely making the right food choices and not missing the junk. I went wrong by going to WeightWatchers at the same time, even though Pete says, 'Throw out your scales!' One week I did not have the weight loss I was expecting and then I got very depressed and could not get back into it. However, I'm all set to give it another go - which is how I came across this thread. Good luck! I can recommend his 'Slimming with Pete' cassette tape.

ooooh lovely to see a reply at last!

My barrier to losing wieght is that fact that I have a bad habit of eatign when I dont need to for a variety of reasons.

I really really dont see ww or sw or calorie counting as an answer to me being over weight. The points sytem means that I either cheat or I feel I have to eat all my points even when not hungry, and if i want to comfort eat then carrot sticks are free - well all that seems to be quite mentally unhealthy really. It doesnt fix the problem does it?!

My meals are healthy, I exercise a few times a week. The reason I cannot lose wieght is because I overeat as a comfort, and I just cannot stop feeling really fed up about it today becasue despite weeks of trying I just cannot stop the eating because I feel bad.

I know what you mean about ww etc. I first joined ww 21 years ago when I had a few pounds that I wanted to lose before trying for our first baby. I got to goal weight fairly painlessly and then again a couple of years later before we tried for our second baby. I got to goal once more but then the weight crept back on and that is when I discovered Pete Cohen. I loved his programme - I got up early to read the book and do the written exercises. I was so motivated and it all made so much sense - all I've wanted to do is eat like a 'normal' person where food is not something you think about all day. I was making good progress but stupidly I did not trust myself not to overeat and so I went to ww as well. The week it all went wrong I'd lost 3 lbs but as I had had a 'perfect' week I expected 5lbs like I had done my first time at ww. Also that week we were discussing what it felt like to be at goal weight and several of us had been there more than once! Alarm bells rang - what on earth was going on - why hadn't we learnt how to maintain our weight? I've since joined Sureslim, lost 30lbs and then put it all back on - I was like a woman possessed and couldn't stop eating! I've dabbled with Zoe Harcombe's diet but after reading the threads here you can see people put the weight back on. Sorry this is so long but I really believe this programme of Pete's is the way to go as it changes what goes on in your head. I think it is his best and will be giving myself the time to really go for it. I hope your day improves!
