Am I expecting too much? I really am sticking to the McKenna system, I thought I would have lost more than this by now, especially combined with the exercise. I feel really pissed off about it! Can anyone help?

[sob] thank you so much for all the nice comments! You are all lovely. I suppose I am in still that 'diet' mode when I feel I should be losing quite large amounts of weight at once. I need to stop that. I have lost 2 inches off my waist, I do feel like I have more energy and feel like I have made very positive changes to the way I see and use food. And I am defintately fitter. Lostgirl and SHowofhands you have pointed out that 1-2lbs a week is likely to be actual fat and not lean tissue, thank you I never thought of that. You have all really boosted me up

matumble I am 5ft7 and weigh 13 stones, I am aiming to get down to between 11 and 11.5. I carry all my weight on my stomach and upper body (dreaded apple shape). I start to look much better (in clothes!) around the 12 stone mark but ideally should be less than that to be in 'healthy' range.

you are doing very well, and havent really got far to go, when you hear of people dropping large amounts usually they are much heavier. i dropped 6lb in the first 15 days and was hesitant to say that at the start but then i had nearly 8 stone to lose. my loss will slow down too but to be honest im much less interested in that than i am in my figure, have you seen the 90 day journal? its good and is keeping me thinking about the rules, its hard to get your head out of diet mode isnt it, to stop thinking about the scales and start thinking about being healthy long term. lots of good points on here, listen to them you are doing well but you have to recognise it to keep doing well

How do you get hold of the Paul McKenna plan? Is there a book or a website?

peggotty · 05/04/2010 12:15

Book on Amazon, tethersend. Usually cheap.

Thank you Matumble, I know what you mean about being more interested in your figure than the actual weight you are, I need to be a bit more focused on that as well. I havent't got the journal, no, the book I got was just the cd with it. I do find the visualisation techniques very good, as my goal is all about wearing the clothes I want to... as he says, imagination is stronger than willpower !

What are you actually doing at the gym ?
I ask because I spent 8 weeks on a strict diet and excersising or so I thought until I got a personal trainer and the first time he did was 40 mins of interval training on the bike and sprinting. Then 20 mins of weight lifting, they make the real difference to your shape, followed by 30 building to 60 crunches.
You should be coming out of the gym dripping with sweat and breathless.
So many people go on those cross trainers for 20 mins and you see them come off in the same condition as they went on, complete waste of time.

peggotty · 05/04/2010 12:18

Millymolly I do come out of the gym sweating and breathless, I am a sight to behold!! 30 mins running/walking (on a beginners running programme) 10 mins crosstrainer 10mins rowing. I am aiming to increase the time running and on the crosstrainer and also start some ab work too.

The cross trainer I was told is a complete waste of time, much better to be running in short bursts then walk and gradually increase the time you run for. Rowing is brilliant alround toning.
The next stpe is to venture into the weights department, muscle burns calories quicker than usual so once you've got some squats and big muscles in your bum you'll notice a massive difference in how your clothes fit and weight loss.
I went from a 14 to a 10 in 6 weeks, without dieting at all.

i would recomend the 90 day journal there is so much in it, i bought membership to his club for 6 months including the journal and 5 cds of extra hypnosis stuff for around £40 i think, i was hesitant but worked out 6 months of slimming world was nearly £120! even without the club or the extra cds i would reccomend the journal. i would post a link but the screenon my laptop has just gone dark so im typing blind!

matumble · 05/04/2010 16:21

i didnt do a bad job of that, i could only just see the screen to type www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Thin-90-Day-Success-Journal/dp/0593050568/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qi d=1270480720&sr=8-1 to the journal on amazon if you want a nosey and
www.mckenna.com/default.aspx to the club/shop etc for someone i think was interested further up. im not on commision honestly im just amazed by the difference im seeing and feeling

tethersend · 05/04/2010 17:01

Thanks for that matumble

You should never lose more than a pound or two in a week, anyway...you are losing a healthy amount of weight...some people just don't 'dump' massive amounts in a short space of time. As long as you are consistently losing, then you're on the right track. The slower you lose it, the less likely you will be to gain it back.
