Finally losing weight, but cannot control my eating...

Hi all, just wondered if anyone else has a similar problem. I have lost a stone over the last four months, purely through exercising. I have gone from a VERY sedentary lifestyle to a running at least 3 times a week (a REALLY big achievement for me!). I would like to shed another 2 stone and know that it would really help if I could get my eating under control. I have really good days where I'm focussed and not interested in food, but then there are days where I find myself snacking constantly. Sometimes I make too much lunch (e.g. tuna pasta) and instead of putting the rest away, I end up eating it all - basically a double portion of what I normally eat. I almost seem to do it on auto-pilot, which doesn't give me a chance to reason with myself. It's quite scarey actually. I then get very down because I know the next days run will purely be burning off the rubbish I've just consumed rather than the layer of fat already on my body! Any suggestions or hugs would be gratefully received

maybe buy a load of non-fattening stuff to serve up - do loads of salad.
Well done on losing 4 stone through running - I am in awe!

thanks cornsilk. I do honestly try stock up on healthy stuff, and never buy biscuits etc (dh is responsible for this and gets moaned at when I'm having a good day, but he's my best friend when I'm craving a snack!). I know it's will power, or something, just can't seem to crack it at the moment. Oh, BTW it has only been ONE stone over the last FOUR months, but still a major achievement for me. I suppose I should also mention that I have also given up smoking which I think might be part of the problem. Sigh, I know there's no magic answer, but was just hoping for some inspiration that will suddenly click my brain into the right way of thinking IYSWIM?!?!?

are you snacking a lot on carbohydrates? pasta/fruit etc?

you could try to snack on protein (cheese, eggs, nuts) and stop the high and low sugar thing. (there are better explanations but i'm hoping you know what i mean)

Sorry, ended up going out for the day. Yes, definitely more on carbs, and again, I do realise I'm just making the cycle continue. Just annoyed with myself that one day I can be so controlled, and then the next day it almost takes me by surprise how strong my "need" to eat becomes!
