misdee · 20/07/2005 18:09

i weighedd less when i was pregnant.

i would just feel so much better being able to keep up with the kids and push peter in the wheelchair easier without getting out of breath. thaty and the other health benefits as well. was told by docs to keep weight down due to have gestantional diabetes with last pregnancy, so really really have to do this.

Misdee - I know you posted on the other thread but have found you on this one as well! Yes definitely worth going to the intro session and also chatting to Woodpops who I noticed is back today! She lost many stones if memory serves me right and has said she has kept it off for the past few months.

You do have weekly 'counselling' sessions which should help you address your food issues, but as I am still in abstinence (ie just on the food packs on LL) I don't know yet how far I've got overcoming my life-long eating issues, but I do know that something has changed in my head (I think). I started off at 17st 9lbs (42.3 bmi, morbidly obese and size 24/26 ) but am now in size 14/16 clothes and hope to be under 12 stones at my weigh-in on Saturday - that should give me less than a stone to go to reach a healthy bmi and less than 2 stones to target (and I have been doing it so far for under 4 months!)

It is a lot of money but I have definitely 'saved' that much (and more) on all the food and drink I don't consume.

And just to add I am not trying to recruit, just want to say that it has changed my life immeasureably so far. I have found it no harder than any other diet I have done, and in some ways it has been a lot easier. Feel free to ask me anymore questions. Am now off to thank Woodpops for putting me onto LL.

Misdee- go for it

I lost 4 stones on LL last year and have kept it off.

It really has made such a difference. I'm looking forward to going on holiday a size 14 this year rather than a size 22! I'd love to lose another stone and get into a size 12 and may well go back on packs for a few weeks to get there, if I can find my motivation

My sister is starting next week and I'm so excited for her!

Let me know if you want a LL buddy and I'll put both of you in contact

Misdee
if you can think of doing this with all your worries, then I feel really ashamed that I can't do it with no excuse except being busy all the time.

I'm 5' 3" and 14stone plus - and I have a huge belly, like several months pregnant. I'm usually OK in the day, but come the evening I eat while I'm cooking, then I eat what I've cooked, then I have something to finish off, then something before I go to bed - I'm such a pig .

My excess weight is like I'm carrying all three of my babies at the same time. No wonder I fel lousy.

misdee · 21/07/2005 07:23

TBH its all my worries that are mpotivtaing me. i spend a lot of time in a hospital where people are being trated for heart problems including heart attacks. and see all the healthy heart leaflets everytime i go in there. i know my heart is under great strain, as my BMI is 38.something, and i have to do this for my health and my kids future.

Plus seeing the pics of me at mieows yesterday when i was size 16(prekids) really makes me want to be that size or smaller again.

have an appointment for saturday morning. i hope the GP gives me the all-clear to do this. my blood pressure has always been stable, so i cant see that being a problem. have been told by diabetes ckinic when i was pregnant that i should lose weight within the 1st year of giving birth to dramatically reducew my risk of diabetes later on.

just wanted to say good luck with your weight loss journey that it can be done !

my BMI was 44, and for ages I wouldn't do anything about it because I was terrified of yoyoing and ending up even heavier. Getting low thryoid treated has helped but it certainly isn't the magic bullet. Discovering I had a wheat allergy got me started as lost a few pounds straight off wihtout trying.

BMI now 31.58 so it's on the way down though still in the obese range currently working on getting under 30. Not sure that I'll ever get into the healthy BMI zone ( 18-25?) it seems a bit unrealistic. But at least I've improved my odds

I'm just doing sensible healthy eating, no counting, and if I stick to it, the weight comes off. I pay some attention to GI principles, and listen to Paul McKenna CD couple of times a week if I can find the time.

all the best !

misdee · 22/07/2005 21:04

my mum who has to lose the same as me roughly says she'll join me on lighterlife.

How do you find out your BMI?

assumedname · 22/07/2005 21:27

Forget that, I think I'm tired tonight!!

sansouci · 22/07/2005 21:32

I haven't read the whole thread but i've been taking something called Reductil (Sibutramine NOT Phentermine!!) which has helped me go from 90kgs to 73kgs (not sure of stones but 2.2lbs to the kilo). No side-effects (for me, at least). Moderate exercise (lots of walking) and WW as a guideline.

My sympathies, misdee. As if you haven't had enough to cope with! Anything I can do to help?

misdee · 22/07/2005 21:34

just keep me off the chocalate cakes (and pizza)

i've got an appointment for lighter life too misdee. but to actually atart it will have to wait until after my holiday(aug 20th) as cannot afford £45 a week at the moment.
i have been doing slimming world online and have lost 2stone 8lb but at a standstill of 1/2 to 1lb per week. i need a quicker result to keep me going otherwise i get bored and start snacking(like tonight one bottle of wine, packet doritos, and a handful of jelly sweets) and thats after a healthy dinner of jacket potato and salad with low fat cheese!
i will be your lighter life buddy if you start.
the only thing i'm worried about is if the skin will all go back into place!(have been exercising e.g swimming, walking and tennis lessons)
i am a size 22-24 don't want to reveal my weight as there are people i know on here that i would rather not know my weight.

misdee · 23/07/2005 16:27

I've had my appointment and watched the video, had a chat, got to get my gp to sign the form, and should be able to start a week tuesday, if everything goes through ok. i can attend tuesdays meeting weith my mum, to meet our group, but cant get the food packs till nedxt week or when my forms go through. feel really really positive about this now. its going to be hard but i'm gonna do it.
