Have a portion of protein with every meal and try to only eat fibrous carbs with a protein like fish or chicken at night and a natural complex carb, like brown rice or wholegrain oats with protein for lunch. For brekkie, try yoghurt and fruit.

High rep, low weight cardio as well should burn those last few pounds.

lucie could you translate this!!! I dont understand fibrous carbs and natural complex ones.

What should I eat for brekkie, lunch and tea and what exercise and snacks in between shoudl I go for?

Well done you!! Am in the same boat, 6lbs to go and feel like amputating something is the only way it's coming off!!

I would say avoid carbs in the evening, try to eat brown rice/pasta/bread etc.

I have also started doing 30 mins exercise every day (whether it's a run, a walk, just something) to keep my metabolism going. It's not easy to squeeze it in but I'm determined! Have also cut out alcohol altogether. (Boring!)

Good luck!

Okay. This is from my 'Fast Track to Fat Loss Programme that I'm kinda trying to follow: They list the foods from each group and you just choose whatever you fancy from each list. This isn't a fad diet thing but the way the human body should eat to live and stay healthy. That said, I had 2 Galaxy creme eggs yesterday

Brekkie- lean protein natural yogurt followed by porridge with fruit (blueberries ideal)

Lunch - chicken, rice and salad

Dinner - Fish and lots of veggies followed by piece of fruit.

Lean Protein= lean meat, cottage cheese, quinoa, quorn, low fat yog, low fat cheese etc
Natural starchy carbs= brown rice, oats, potato, yam etc
Simple carbs = fruit
Fibrous Carbs= Veggies, eg a whole bag of watercress is only 15 cals so you could eat a whole bag and feel really full, along with some salmon and sweet potato.
Do this with some phys and you'll shed the last few pounds.
The trick is to not eat any processed bread, rice, pasta or other processed carbs.

Bumping, coz I want to know too!

I am not eating bread, pasta etc, nor biscuits, crisps etc. I AM eating protein and lots of veg. My weight loss has stopped though, and I want to get shot of the last 1/2 stone. I have upped my exercise, but to no avail

luciemule · 24/02/2010 21:39

Are you eating carbs too rooftops?

TheRooftops · 24/02/2010 21:53

Hi lm
I am eating potatoes and rice, but only at one meal a day. I am not feeling hugry, which is great, but I am frustrated that the weight loss has stopped, despite feeling very virtuous!
How are you doing?

luciemule · 24/02/2010 22:01

Having the pots and rice at one meal is good and great that you're not hungry. I've been really bad lately and I reckon it's because mentally, I know that I've upped my exercising by 100% and so keep allowing myself more cals (whoops). I love my healthy brekkies and lunches and for tea tonight I wasn't actually hungry so chucked my sausages in the bin and had no tea.
I did the Cambridge Diet a couple of yrs ago and lost over 2 stone but the last bit was really hard to shift. I think it's because the body tries to hold onto a bit of fat. It will go but perhaps increase the exercise (cardio not weights) a bit more to shift it. Don't forget as well that muscle weighs more than fat so if you're doing lots of phys, it might just be that it's muscle, rather than fat.

TheRooftops · 24/02/2010 22:19

I think you are right lm about the body holding on to the last bit! How does it know though? I am only trying to get to a BMI of 23, not be half starved .
I also take your point about muscle vs fat. I still would like to lose that 1/2 stone though.
I am not doing weights, just walking and running. My legs are definitely more solid now, but still have other wobbly bits!

Now, surely you should have eaten this evening? Isn't skipping meals bad for trying to lose weight? Well done on losing 2 stone before - that must give you encouragement?

luciemule · 25/02/2010 09:19

Yes I should have eaten an evening meal. But I honestly wasn't hungry.
Trust me, I've still got loads to lose and one evening meal isn't going to make much difference.
Since I've been swimming 4 x a week, I feel soooo much better. I would love to jog but have dodgy knees. I have a gravity walker, thigh stepper and exercise bije though so I should be using those. I also have a power plate but it made me lose all the feeling in my toes so gave it up. Will think about doing more though. For me, to jog in front of anyone would mean I would already have to be slim - I don't people looking at me exercising!

I think the bit about losing the last 1/2 stone being trickier is about the amount your body has lost. When I said I lost over 2 stone, I then put it back on again with a bit extra over the last 2 yrs!
Oh well - am doing okay on my healthy eating and exercise regime now so fingers crossed.
