I've been on a diet changing my lifestyle for ever (ahem) since 2nd week of Jan.

It's OK so far. However, I've got a lot of weight to lose, so I've really got to look at this as a long term plan.

I think this is my danger point though, as am starting to get..
...not exactly bored, but a bit restless.

I need to motivate myself to keep going. I had a look at some pictures from about 10 years ago and was taken about at how slim I was. I recall thinking I was huge, and I wasn't at all - size 10 at the most. So, I've got a couple of those photos handy to help me be positive about the future.

I'm also going away in mid June, so am trying to keep that in mind as do not want to be this size on holiday.

DS1 will be starting school in September and I want to blend in at the school gates.

Anybody else care to share their reasons for embarking on their weight loss regimes?

i have changed my eating habits and signed up to go to the dieticians every month. I lost 10 lbs last month but that was down to the Paul Mckeena i can make you thin programme i am following religiously and the fact that a new sports centre has opened up 5 minutes away. I am swimming almost every day and doing the Davina McCall dvd (didnt know about her comment on bb when i bought it see other thread) i am doing great !!!

I lost weight about 5 years ago for health reasons so I'm not embarking on a weight-loss regime, as such. However, since maintaining the loss means not letting things slide I wondered if some of the techniques I use to keep things interesting would help.

  • You absolutely have to enjoy what you eat and enjoy your chosen exercises. Nothing is worse than tolerating eating particular foods or exercising just for the sake of it & feeling that you're missing out. When you're enjoying yourself you don't need any motivation...
  • Be well-prepared and think ahead. It's a lot easier to keep going if you don't give yourself too many alternatives! So be ruthless about your cupboard contents, for example, and don't let junk creep in. Prepare the healthy packed lunch the night before rather than being swayed into bad food choices.
  • Keep changing things around. New recipes, new activities, different foods, little personal challenges. If you keep yourself interested and on your toes there's less opportunity to get restless
  • Create some short-term goals and rewards (not food!) to go with them. June holidays and September school starting are a long way off.

Good luck
