Did anyone see this article in The Sun today? It's an interview with the lady who founded Go Lower (the diet I am losing lots of weight with!) about her new book and the diet. I don't feel so bad now about my lack of exercise after reading this.

If you are not very strong, start with "own body weight" resistance exericises such as squats, lunges, sitting against the wall with thighs at 90 degrees, press ups (can do them on your knees to start with), plank (aka bridge, sit ups and tricep dips.

The other benefit of these exercises is.....yes you guessed it......they're free.

Arctic thanks for that great advise. And you can do it in you own home

There are certain studies that can support her claims - but she has cherry-picked the evidence that supports her argument and ignored the rest. **

exactly what a law does in real life.

the part about lying on the sofa would burn 100 calories - yes it would but it would take nearly and hour and a half for an average size perosn 64kg

running on the other hand would burn up the same calories in half that time, plus the person that is out running is much more likely to be more active overall, they will have more energy and although yes they may well come back and watch a tv program - there body will still be birning extra cals as they sit down for the next 30 minutes.

the person that runs is then more likely to run again - so will amintain a lighter weight, as over the course of a week they may well run three time - so therefore using 240 x 3 = 720 plus another 50 cals ach run after they get home so a total of 870. This is compare to someone sittng on the sofa doing nothing extra. Over a year the runner will have used up and extra 12 pounds of body weight in cals that the none runner hasn't used they will have missed out on using up 45240 calories over a year.

I think though that here is a lot of foods that have hiden calories and sugar in them - low fat food are often stuffed with sugar so you don't get the fat but replace it with sugar you don't need or want - yogurt is one of the biggest offenders of hiden sugar.

I small pot of yogurt can contain three teaspoos fo sugar that you don't know about and you eat it thinking it is good as it is low fat

Thanks Arctic, I'd be lucky to be able to do press ups!

Ivy - I understand what you are saying with regards to the exercise.
