Would you join this trial?

Have name changed. I have been offered a chance to trial a new diet. The company provide mail replacement products and vitamins etc. It over a twelve week period. You need to provide before/after pics etc. Am quite interested but they are asking for £75. This is just a wat of proving you are committed. You get it back at end trial with additional £50.

What would you do? I really need to lose weight.I can see the trial would act as an incentive for me to continue with diet. Normally I give up after a slip.

Sorry long.

wideratthehips · 10/02/2010 14:09

why do you initially have to pay to take part in a trial?. that signals alarm bells to me.....i don't understand from the post, sorry.

PrivetDancer · 10/02/2010 14:11

Is there a website / company name? How did you hear of it? Have you met anyone in person?

whoops · 10/02/2010 14:19

I possibly would depending if I had a bit more info etc about it.

wotdoido · 10/02/2010 14:27

It through Dubitz Family Panel. They are asking for money as they are providing you with £1200 worth of meal replacements/vitamins etc. They don't want people to take the products but not complete the trial.
Its to show a commitment to taking part.

Is there a way of verifying that they are not trying to rip you off? Like a governing body or something you could contact.

MerlinsBeard · 10/02/2010 14:29

I would if it didn't involve paying for anything up front.

You are doing them a favour which may or may not bring up health issues for you of course you should do it for free!!

whoops · 10/02/2010 14:32

How much info have they given you about it?
I wouldn't hand over money for it until I knew exactly what was involved and if it had some sort of trial already as this type of diet can cause medical issues

PrivetDancer · 10/02/2010 14:41

Do you trust Dubit to only provide real companies? I don't know how it works.

If I was you I might be tempted, my main worry would be in handing over cash and not getting it back / promised goods not turning up.

I also couldn't cope with 12 weeks of sachets, but that's just me
