Why am I not loosing weight and mummy tummy

DS is 9 months now and I still have an awful mummy tummy. My muscles split after I had him and I managed to bring the muscles back together but it did not make it look any better. The sight of it is starting to get me down.

My weight seems to be stuck no matter what I do. I am running 2/3 times a week at the moment each time about 5 miles and still my weight is the same

I eat reasonably well - 3 meals a day and try to be good with choc/wine etc. I did a diet after DS was born and lost a stone but am reluctant to be constantly dieting.

Any tips?

First of all well done with the exercise! I wish I could be that disciplined!

My doctor recommended pilates to me, as it is one of the only exercises that work the core muscles.

Unfortunately there are no classes near me so I can't vouch for it, but I have heard good reports.

Also, I think an underactive thyroid can be quite common after childbirth and can be easily sorted out with tablets.

It might be worth a check up at the doctors to make sure it's not that.

I did try a pilates class but I didn't really enjoy it and could not manage a lot of the excercises. Hmm might look into the under active thyroid thing as it does seem really odd that my weight is always the same no matter what I do.

I think I probably do need to do some really targetted tummy excercises but don't really know how and I am really weak in that area. I could not do a proper sit up for example.

I think if you explain all of this to your doctor then they will refer you to a physiotherapist. I think you need to be shown specific exercises to concentrate on that area.
