I have a spare tyre round my middle - help?

The rest of me is fine - normal to slim very few wobbly bits (just the tops of my arms & my tum); even my bum is a reasonable size but just at the top of my bum I have a 3 inch band of flab, it's not my waist (that is fine too) it is below my waist.

At the front it is my belly & at the back it is a band of fat

Can I get rid of it?

I think I am a normal(ish) weight - I am 5ft 5 & 10st 4lbs

I think I had this post pregnancy, you have to use it to burn it, but it does go. Engage the muscle behind it in your day to day activities as much as you can (or remember)by drawing your tummy button back towards your spine and your pelic floor up at the same time and keep your hips square as poss when walking. It is hard to begin with so start with the tummy button and as you feel that engages more naturally add in the pelvic floor. If you catch yourself bending over to pick something up and letting everything hang out stop for a sec and draw everything back in before finishing what you were doing. You can also do core strength excercise like pilates or yoga (Ashtanga is great for arms too). Step is another option and gives you a cardio work out into the bargin (a great fat burner, therefore the faster option and my fav). The elevation part of step aerobics requires you to hold your core firm, the higher you jump the more you are working your core. Reading back this sounds like bootcamp, but hope it is helpful

this

it is all working your core at the same time as your legs and arms - you have to hold your core muscles to do the others...

working on your core will build the muscles that protect your lower back aswell so a bonus - aswell as improve your look

Ivykate - so not going to happen - it would kill me

Pilates is a possibility - but I have no connection to my pelvic floor - I have had a bladder repair so anything depending upon that is a lost cause

nah it really will not kill you - it really wouldn't..you can start with really low weights and just build up very slowly. Apart from changing your shape - you will lose weight and not muscle and and - it will increase your bone density.

it is the only way I cando it - I can't do free weights I would rather have a swim so I book a class and have to go - but I have stayed under 10 stone since I have been going. There are woman in my class that have 15 - 20 years on me - really an I ma a 67 baby

ahh then thats different - I have a book that may be of interest to you though

Strong Woman Stay Young by Miriam Nelson

I think really it is aimed at 50+ but it looks at helping gently rather than aggressivley.

She has other books aswell.

Once you get though her waffley bits and get o the stuff to actually do at home with a few peices of cheapish equipemtns it is ok.
There is a chapter on balance that I found interesting which makes sense.

That looks interesting (& vaguely possible) I'll see if I can get it at the library

my dad gave it to me as my mum had osteoporosis in her late 20's and thought it may be of use. TBH it is a little too gentle as I do the body pump but it was an interesting read about what you can change and prevent.

i have had a bone test and that revealed that atm my bones are above average so that s good but will keep at the weights.

Miriam gets you doing things such as sitting in a dinning chair and putting your hands on opposite shoulders and standing up - this may seem simple - but you do it a few times and it is suprising.

Thanks for the suggestion

TBH I am often so scared of exercise I never try any

I am quite active 'tho & I 'do' a lot day to day - but I know it isn't enough
