Has anyone heard or tired this? Its supposed to block out up to 66% of the carbs you eat, so helping you lose weight. Just wondered if it was worth getting.

low carb is a v popular and effective way of losing weight viz atkins/pig to twig

Is this a new book?

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:36

No book, just tablets that allow you to eat carbs and something in the tablet blocks the absorption of some of the carbs. It would be great if it worked.

Why not just eat less carbs in the first place?? Pills like these really wind me up, as soon as the poor swine stops takign them, they will keep eating their carbs and pile on the weight again

BoysAreLikeDogs · 17/01/2010 13:46

yikes

please, no pills

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:46

I could just low carb I suppose but I hate it. What I thought of doing was calorie counting and having these. I have quite a bit of weight to lose so just wanted to give it a it of a kick start.

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:48

Maybe I'll give it a miss then. Can one of you wave a magic wand and make me slim then?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 17/01/2010 13:50

awww no magic wand mate

badietbuddy · 17/01/2010 13:51

But dg, by taking these pills you are taking the responsibility away from yourself. No one can lose weight for you. I have lost 3 stone in 3 months low carbing. It is a very easy diet to follow, and you needn't feel deprived. It is hard to lose weight, but for me making the decision to do it was the hardest step. It sounds as if you want a magic fix, but pills are not the way to go.

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:52

I know. I just didn't want the hard slog of dieting ahead of me but secretly know I've got to. Sigh.

OP posts:
badietbuddy · 17/01/2010 13:53

It needn't be a hard slog you know. How much do you have to lose?

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:54

I did successfully low carb a few years ago, and I got really into the zone of it and lost lots. I then got pregnant and put weight on . Two years down the line I've done a few half hearted low carbs attempts but somehow I just haven't got my head round it these times and give up after a few days or a few weeks. I really need to re focus and get back on track.

badiet will you start a thread detailing how you lost the weight please?

I would love to hear it

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 13:55

I have about 3 stone to lose, and I wanted to do it by the Summer but I think I'm asking too much with that.

O gosh, there are dribs and drabs from me all over the weight loss board. But I strarted in mid October, I had had enough. I was 14 stone, and still breastfeeding ds who was 16 months. I had it in my head that I couldn't lose weight because I was bfing. But I decided to follow the Idiot Proof Diet, and it's worked to a T. I am now just under 11 stone. I haven't done any workouts, but I have put ds in his buggy every day and pounded the pavements while dd is at school. I have gone from an 18 to a 12 and want ultimately to get to a 10 which I can do by Easter I think.
Truly, for me, the hardest part was making the decision. I had a fasle start where I gave up after a few days, btu then thought, you have got to sort it out, got back on the wagon and haven't looked back.
If I can work out how, I will try and put a before and after pic on my profile to show you how different you will look in a few months if you find the resolve. I can't believe the difference

badietbuddy · 17/01/2010 14:15

Hmm I've put pictures up but I don't know if you can see them. They're being taken down in ten minutes as they are terrible pictures

defyinggravity · 17/01/2010 14:21

Those pictures are amazing! You must be so proud of yourself.I can't believe what a difference 3 months made.
Very cute baby btw.

I'm one of life's serial dieters - got down to under 10st for my wedding last october, then have managed to put on over a stone and a half since then

Started monday, but instead of calorie counting decided to try low carb diet - have lost 7lb this week - had things like curry and casserol and stirfry - just no potatoes, bread, pasta or rice.

I'm really surprised that it seems to be working as it kinda goes against everything that you have learnt in calorie counting school, but so far so good. Have been a lot less hungry than I would normally have been.

Still craving sweet stuff, but if I feel hungry I have a slice of ham or cheese.

dinkystinky · 17/01/2010 14:34

OP - whatever you do, please dont use pills to lose weight - you cant stay on pills forever so at best it will only be a shortterm fix and I dread to think what the side effects might be on your digestive system. The only way to shift the weight is to make a lasting change to your approach to eating and exercise - so if you cant go no carbs, how about going no carbs after 5pm (which works brilliantly for me when I focus on losing weight) and focus on what it is you're eating to make sure you're not eating processed stuff but healthy stuff. You can do it - without the "magic" pills...
