Fitness DVDs that unfit people can use?

I've lurked on quite a few fitness dvd threads here to get inspiration but i'm never clear who the posters are.
I'll be frank. i have four stone to lose. i have not taken regular excercise now for about 8 months (did gym a bit for a few months when DD turned 3 months but then ran out of money). i am also very very very unco-ordinated and hate fancy dancy stuff.
but i need to excercise and with a 3 yo adn 1 yo in tow and no money there's not many other options (hope they join in ).
Any suggestions of DVDs i could manage without feeling a total failure? Would Davina be right for me?

I'm watching this thread as tempted to get a fitness DvD too and have no idea which one to get!

When I was pregnant with DD, I was the fittest I have been since I was about 18, mainly by going walkingevery evening it was weather permitting. This meant that throughout the whole pregnancy, I only put on half a stone.

I still have 2stone to shift though, so once the weather clears up I'm going to be out with the P&T every day if it's not raining, even if it's just for 20 minutes. Keeps me active and gets the kids out of the house.

If you combine that with controlling your food intake (I've lost 5lbs this week just from not eating cakes/chocolate and having normal sized portions) then 4 stone should be very achievable

Best of luck!

Rosemary Connelly's are usually quite easy going but not too easy. Avoid anything by Nell McAndrew, she will try to kill you.

The only Davina one I have is a pregnancy one, but it's quite good.

I really recommend Billy Blanks Tae-bo dvds. Its based on kicks and punches so you don't have to be very coordinated (I'm not!)
Its a 30min workout so its easy to fit in.

I have this one www.amazon.co.uk/Billy-Blanks-Tae-Bo-Vol-DVD/dp/B0000634ED/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1263463217&s r=8-3

I've got a Davina dvd which I also enjoy using and find easy. Its called 'My 3 30 min workouts', I think.

thanks everyone
my problem is that i don't have a double buggy anymore (it was borrowed) and even if i did, i think DS is too big at 3.5 to sit in it. i love walking but walking with a three yo is not excercise at all really.
he goes to nursery but at the moment only when i am at work, so it is difficult to find time to excercise with them both in tow. i think till he is in school the fitness dvds are probably best way.
yes, nell mcandrew sounds scary. the kicking and punching one sounds interesting. will try not to do it too near DH!

Hi,

I have all of the Davina dvds apart from the pregnancy one. I swear by them Even if your fitness needs a lot of work, they explain what you can be doing if you find some of the exercises a little to tough and one of the 2 fitness instructors that workout with Davina is always doin the lighter workout so you can follow them.

I have got the best results with Davinas dvds. Theyre all slightly different and have different formats, some are better than others. Some of the workouts you will need a small set of weights. When I first watched the first dvd i bought and weights were mentioned, I scoffed and dismissed the idea. But as Ive lost weight and got slightly fitter I have found that especially the upper body weight routines REALLY help to change the shape of your upper body and shoulders.

If your a beginner I would recommend starting with one of her older dvd's as the newer ones have developed along with Davinas fitness levels in my opinion.

I never get bored as I mix and match the workouts each time and theres alot to choose from. Boxing/aerobics/yoga/pump/kickboxing etc.

She recommends that you try and work out 3 times a week as anything less wont give you a noticeable difference in health and fitness.

Hope this helps, good luck!
