I've a 3 year old and a nearly 1 year old. Stuck at home alot of the time as 1 year old still naps twice a day and will only sleep in his cot. Only exercise is to pre-school and back which is only 10mins each way.

Stuck indoors surrounded by food, just made chocolate chip cookies with my 3 year old as my son has his big sleep.

I'm sure I'm eating out of boredom. Trying to stop eating their leftovers.

Would love to get out more but with pre-school, lunch, son's nap then its nearly dark.

I know it will get easier soon. Waiting for results of thyroid test before trying to diet again - as last test 6 months ago showed overactive thyroid. The babyweight won't shift, I've never dieted in my life...

I know how you feel as I'm a boredom eater too.

I have three children. The youngest is 3 and the other two are 13 and 16. The 3 year old doesn't wake up until morning is almost over so by the time we've had breakfast and a shower and are both ready to leave the house it's usually nearing 2.00pm. My 13yo gets home at 3.30pm so it's hardly worth going out. Obviously we could go out once the 13yo is home but it's dark by 4.30pm. I just keep telling myself that things will be better once we get into March.

I just can't keep out of the kitchen cupboards. I'm constantly wandering in and peering into the cupboards and fridge so
I've stopped buying high calorie snacks. There are no biscuits or crisps in the house. If I go in the kitchen for a boredom graze there's fruit, low sugar jelly and Slim-a-Soups. Honestly, I could kill for a buscuit but I know that I'll have two or three at a time a few times a day so I just don't buy them.

Could you have a cupboard overhaul? Give away all the high calorie foods and replace them with healthier alternatives? Instead of making chocolate chip cookies you could make fruit kebabs dipped in a small amount of melted chocolate. They'd be much better for you when a boredom snack attack hits and your son will enjoy making them with you.

Hi cranbury, I can so empathise with you. I have 2 pre school children - 4 and 2 and work from home so I am at home a lot too and find it so easy to search the cupboards for snacks and end up eating the childrens snacks and leftovers too. Well I was. I started dieting 3 months ago with Go Lower and I am not even tempted anymore. It's so easy and I don't feel hungry at all. I have surprised myself with how easy it is and how I am not tempted to snack now.
