In the morning It would but not if I have eaten breakfast. I usually have porridge which keeps me going till lunch. Then if I'm hungry before dinner I drink water or eat an apple.

What are you eating for meals?

Stay away from high gi foods and fill your plate with veg. Eat fruit if you are hungry between meals.

If you've been used to eating a lot then unfortunately you may need to go through a couple of hungry days till you get used to eating more normal amounts.

Go and brush your teeth- you don't want to eat anything after that.
Or when you feel hunger pangs, feel smug that you are loosing weight.
think about what you are eating and when, I eat 3 main meals although none are massive:
breakfast- one slice of w/m toast with peanut butter and banana
lunch- mostly white egg omlette, salad
dinner- baked pot with beans and cheese

fruit, rice cakes.

Hi!
I know the feeling, it can be so hard not to nibble!
Try drinking fizzy water, it can be a bit bland so what I do is put a bit of orange juice into it. You could try that?
Also, do you like Cherry Tomatoes or Pickles, I will happily have a couple of tomatoes and that keeps me going, and pickles are good because the flavour is strong so it makes me feel like I've had more. I may be a tad strange though, DH often gives me a strange look as I'm stood in the kitchen with a jar of pickles .
Also, keep in mind your motivation for losing weight. I keep a little notebook in the kitchen, and in it are pictures of how I'd like to look...and I flick through it before I make anything to eat, and it usually stops me from eating crap! I have pictures of myself in it, when I was a lot thinner, and pictures of people like Jennifer Aniston and Mischa Barton...sounds a bit sad, but it actually kicks me into gear. I've been doing this for 3 weeks and not fallen off the wagon once!

stop eating carbs

you'll go into ketosis and the weight will drop off

just eat green veg and protein

I swear by tea (any type). I always try to have a cup before deciding if I really need to eat, it fills up my tummy and the natural sweetness help with cravings.

I have droped from Nearly 11st to 9st4lb this last year. Obvioulsy not by just drinking tea! I have been eating sensibly and exercising as well.

My other amazing find has been taking up joging (slowly and tiny distances to start) it has done wonders, something to do with naturally holding your stomach in when you run. I still don't do massive distances (15-30min a few times a week) but it stops me from eating so much, keeps my weight down and gives me a flatter stomach. After each run I drink a Maximuscle protein shake, the protien satisfies hunger for longer and helps build more lean muscle mass and so you burn more calories. I have not run in the last 2 weeks because of the snow and have replaced it with bicuits, I dread to think what the scales have gone up to but am not too worried as when the snow melts I will run again and fingers crossed it will fall off.

Mug of tea with sweetener does the trick for me, as well as eating fewer carbs and lots of protein.

LostGirl · 13/01/2010 14:16

If you are genuinely hungry then eat, if between meals then eat a piece of fruit along with some sort of protein as it will fill you up for longer. Try and eat every 3hours or so as it keeps your energy levels more constant and less likely to have a 'slump' and crave things. If you are craving things rather than being hungry try chewing gum.
