without cutting anything else out? Bearng in mind I was drinking quite a lot - probably about 4 bottles a week over christmas.

Any experience please?

Tis not the main reason for doing it but would be a nice bonus.

Well, as long as you don't substitute it for something equally/more calorific, or start eating/snacking more, then yes - by definition you will. There are lots of calories in wine - around 85 per small glass of white, I believe.

I am not drinking in January to kick start a much needed diet. (I used to drink 2-3 bottles of wine per week.)

But my problem was more than just the calories from drinking the wine. It was the snacking on carbs/cheese once I'd had a glass. And feeling rubbish the next day and eating more then.

I have already noticed a difference on the scales

Thanks

I think I am eating a bit more atm. To distract myself I think. But I am already finding it easier so that will stop.

Other problem is not being able to run, with all the ice.

yes you will and also help your liver out however you will also probably lose your sanity in the process - your choice

Hmmmm....sanity....liver....

Hard choice but my sanity is already compromised by having DC

I sometimes give up drinking in January and always lose weight even though I don't change my diet, in fact I think I eat more sugar when I don't drink.

tatty - I too am mainlining sugary food atm
