Jelly and soup diet - Crash diet for 1 week?

My DP had an operation last year which meant he had to lose two stone very, very quickly in order to go through with it.

He went on the "jelly and soup" diet and lost 2 stone in two weeks.

I'm not advocating this ... he had far more to lose than I do. What I'm wondering is, would it be worth going on this diet for one week only in the new year just to kick start my own diet?

What it basically involves is - a bowl of jelly for breakfast. Soup for lunch, another bowl of jelly mid afternoon and a tin of soup dinner. Along with a multi-vitamin pill each day.

DP thinks I should give it a go ... ? Since I don't have much to lose, I could cheat a bit I suppose and have a few glasses of orange juice and milk ...

Its only for one week.

sounds appallingly bad for you, and generally losing lots quickly means it just goes straight back on when you're normal again.

I would assume the starvation reaction would kick in where you start storing fats too

Why no solids? You will soon realise that you have a need to chew to satiate your appetite as well as just ingesting liquids.

If you don't have much to lose, why the need to be so drastic?

Sounds like something you'd have after a serious operation or the like! I'm on a diet but I still like my food and don't think jelly would get me too excited - can't stand it anyway. I'm on celebrity slim and I've been losing 2lbs a week so far. This is perfect for me and I don't think it sounds too good for your body to lose that much that quickly. Slowly is better then you can keep it off.

Did you ever try this jelly and soup diet? did it work?

There is nothing wrong with this diet if done correctly. I'm on a diet like this and I have soup and jelly. But the thing to keep in mind is to maintain high protein to keep muscle as if you lose weight with no muscle then you will just become a flat ironing board. So I have a protein shake for breakfast and I make a large pan of fish soup which I can grab when I need to so then I have soup for lunch and then soup for dinner and jelly for a desert. I keep hard boiled sweets in my bag on me incase my sugar feels a bit low and suck on a few when its low and also I take supplements like Ginseng and vitamins for nutrients and energy. also I drink plenty of water through the day. I am not Unwell in anyway maintaining this diet and in no flat ironing board I have lost weight well and I have a nice flat stomach and nice curvy waist with a nice stuck out bum. I maintain exercise too to keep my body building the muscle so I do a hour cardio on treadmill as well as my mummy duties running around, I do squats and rear leg raises and sit ups to prevent me going too flat. It helps to do a detox or crash diet meal once in a while. I look at it like this when people bang on about how safe a diet like this is I remind myself of those people smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol and eating food like Mcdonalds and how they consume all that without worrying about the risk they impose. this is far more better and safer for you in the long run being fit and healthy through maintaining good eating habits and exercise helps with your health in the long run. I hope this helps you. :)
