Hi bkbk,

I tried these with the doctor...who gave no advice at all ( there should be a contact line in the blurb in the packet for a support line)and was on them for 18 months.

I lost weight, mainly because not just the tablets, I stopped eating! The side effects are a bit gruesome, always have a kettle boiling and some fairy liquid to scrub the loo clean with and be prepared to have a supply of clean big knickers with you at all times and some good pantyliners ...even st's!

The foods that effected me most were things like mayo or ice cream but funnily enough fish and chips had no reaction!

Its about 9 years ago since I had them, I lost 3 1/2 stone in the time but friends lost far more. Needless to say its all back on AND MORE! But then its my choice and I wont discourage you from having a go!

Please feel free to comment back

hi bkbk - i am taking them at the moment, and can honestly report i have had no nasty toilet accidents

That is probably because i am so scared of having them, i have been very careful as to what i am eating - probably which is the point

Food wise, i started (with the advice from the lovely ladies on shiney's thread) to use Food Focus, which calculates how much fat is in food. I followed the rule that i could have no more than 15g fat per meal, with a snack of 5-6g fat mid morning and mid afternoon. The first month i lost nearly a stone and a half, and have now settled down to between 6-10lbs per 4 weeks. All in all, since 1st July, i have lost just under 4 stone.

Obviously i am aware of the possibility of putting it all back on once i stop the tablets, but i figure i am retraining myself into what i can eat, and have really upped the exercise, which makes all the difference!

Good luck with yours - they can work well (just my experience)if you are disciplined enough to be careful with what you eat!

Food wise, i still have sandwiches - which was my downfall before. But now i have WW bread, sliced chicken with loads of salad. Spag bol is another favourite, and thanks to food focus, i can see exactly how much i should be having!

Saying all that, there are some days where i havent the time to weigh everything and calulate the fat content - so i just have a ready meal - which is all worked out for you

HI
I started taking Xenical in December and have lost 5lbs - not bad with Christmas inbetween then and now.
I have just started my second pack and they dont' seem to be working. I found that even when I was being really good there was always some sign that they were working Now however there is absolutely no sign - even on a day when I haven't stuck to my diet very well. I spoke to my pharmacist who suggested that I emailed Roche (The manufacturer) but they haven't replied. I can't see my doctor for 2 weeks and am feeling a bit miserable at the moment. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

My advise is DO NOT, with a capital 'you will suffer' eat ready made shop bought Lasagna...

OMG what a shock lol, i ate it for tea 2 days ago and am still suffering- needless to say that the pair of jeans i wore that evening will be sent to be disposed of in an industrial incinerator lol.

Will definately not be making that mistake again.

Good luck with the weightloss, i'm cheering you on as i flail about in my own hit and miss journey lol xxxx

MurderMostOrrid - was it a low fat one or standard range one?

MurderMostOrrid · 17/09/2010 12:39

It was a standard sainsburys italian range one, it ws a large family one, but i only had a quarter of it. Was quite a shock lol

Also find that the shop bought mild cheddar is quite dangerous and not very pleasant afterwards- have now replaced with wensleydale which seems ok and low fat pineapple cottage cheese.
