i realise that is probably going to sound like self denial but it's driving me totally nuts how HEAVY I am. I feel embarassed and ashamed of my actual weight, more than how I actually look.

Now I know I'm overweight, I look overweight and could def do with shifting a couple of stone.

However, I am a size 16 (am 5'9, large build, very curvy, massive boobs and even at my very thinnest was a 14 top and 16 bottoms)
I am in a running club and run 20 miles a week. I have a waist and can 'nearly' see some stomach muscles.

I am 16 stone!!

That puts me in the obese column on those charts, my BMI is v v high, I can't do some of the things I want to do eg: do to local horseriding school, go on trampoline with my kids, go on those adventure climbing tree things at center parcs etc cos i'm just too heavy.

The few people I've told how much I weigh have been shocked at how heavy I am, they are close friends and family and would tell me the truth.

I spoke to nurse about it and she said that looking at me it was ridiculous that I should be classed as obese rather than 'overweight' like loads of other mid 30's mothers of 2.

It's driving me nuts and really really gets me down.

I'm not looking for answers, just wondering if there is anyone else out there who is much heavier than they look.

I am 5'3 and 13st 6lb - I am a size 14 and people are always shocked by how much I weigh.

When I was a size 10 I was 10.5st. BMI calc recommends I should be 8st, If I did get down to 8st there would be nothing left of me. The BMI calc is a pile of crap and I go by my hip to waist ratio.

I'm 5'2" and weigh 11 stone. I'm a size 12. At just under 9 stone, I was a size 8.
People are always shocked by how much I weigh. When I tell them I want to lose 2 stones, they are definitely surprised and think I only need to lose about a stone.

I put this down to the fact that my weight spreads everywhere. I'm always in jeans/trousers and have to have sleeves (long short sleeves are ok, ifykwim) as my legs and arms are huge. My upper arms are huge and I can't get my calves into boots at this size even though I can squeeze uncomfortably into size 10 jeans!

Me too I am so glad that it is not just me!!

I am 5ft 8, currently weight 12st 9 and am a size 14 (if I breathe in!) - have lost 3 stone since January when I was struggling to get into size 18 trousers (after having DS2). My target weight is 11st 9 when I think I will be a comfortable size 14 (maybe even into 12's) but this will still only put me just under a BMI of 25 which baffles me.

Everyone I speak to now is shocked that I still feel I have a stone to lose and I try not to tell anyone in RL what I weigh as I am quite about it. I went to see a surgeon a few weeks ago as I need to have an operation to have my gallbladder removed and he commented that that my GP, in hre report to him, had described me as overweight but he said I didn't look at all overweight to him (there was a 2 month gap between the appointment during which I had lost another stone)!!

I am quite muscly as I do work out a lot plus I have always convinced myself I have heavy bones

Thank the lord - I've found my people!

Just over a year ago I was at my slimmest for years, training for a triatholon and in a size 10/12. At 5'4" and over 13 stone!

If I had that elusive "healthy" BMI I'd be skin and bones. Sadly I've put on weight since last year - but er... I can still run for 30 minutes without stopping and my hip bones stick out.

This is my thread, I can relate to this totally, I am 5'3 and my GP back in June told me I needed to lose weight as 'I was officially overweight' at 10.5 stone! I have always been HUGE on top I was a DD while still at school and after 3 children I am now GG.

Anyway I took up running, I run 3 nights a week and average 4/5 miles per run, and I still weigh 10.5 stone but now wear size 8 jeans and size 12 top.

I'm 5' 2" and currently weigh 10 and a half stone. I'm definitely overweight but even when I weighed less than 10 stone and wore a size 10 i was still overweight. It was depressing.
I have a 5ft 8, size 12/14 friend who's supposedly obese. and another one whose obese and 36HH bra size but no one ever thinks to adjust for her bra size.

I understand that recent study suggests that BMI should vary between ethnicities
so now I tell myself that I've got 'heavy bones'
