Hiya

I've been going to a popular weight loss group for a little over a month now and apparently lost only half a pound.

However, I work out witha trainer since starting this group and have changed my diet considerably. Although I am no longer following their plan (I Haven't told them) I am still attending the groups for the support and the weigh ins as it gives me a day to aim for in the week IYKWIM. Well, my trainer weighed me at the gym last night, and the reading from that and the group are different by 6lbs! His says I've lost just over half a stone and theirs says I've gained 1.5lb? I haven't eaten anything different today from any other day, and have actually worked out slightly more than usually (only 10mins so shouldn't make a difference)

What do you think?

What I think is this - weighing scales differ widely. If you have "dieted" and worked out, then the scales that say a loss of half a stone are the ones to be believed. Ignore the others. Well done.

Well I was going to go by them becuase they measure body fat etc as well, and I've lost a lot of that too.

Was wondering whether these scales are altered so you keep going? Noone at this particular group has lost more than a stone in a year!

Did you have a before and after weighing at the gym? If not you just can't compare the two weights. You need to stick to one set of scales and take all the readings from it. Get some for home, maybe?

Throw the scales away and don't get weighed.

You could remain the same weight-wise but lose a dress size or two by exercising and eating healthily. A firm toned body will look slimmer and be healthier but may weigh the same as a larger flabbier body.

If I were you I would go on how you feel and how your clothes fit rather than what different sets of scales say.
