How do you decide how much weight you have to loose?

Hello. I know I want to loose quite a bit of weight once my baby is born, but no idea how much or anything? I know what I want to LOOK like, but I am not a scales person really and don't know how many lb/stone it is that I need to loose. I was a size 10 (or 12-14 but because I have big boobs! 10 everywhere else though) ish when I met DH and looking back at photos, I really feel that I looked so much better then and had so much confidence compared to now.

I then had DD1 who is now 14 months and I was a size 16 ish in between the 2 pregnancies, and then when she was 6 months old I got pregnant again and have put on tonnes of weight in this pregnancy. I am due in 6 weeks and think I will be about an 18-20 even after baby is born .

I have just started following slimming world but not doing any weighing yet as I will still be gaining weight from the baby and don't want it to put me off. But once baby is born I want to be able to track my weight loss properly and work out what is right for me.

You could lose inches instead of Lbs then

instead of weighing yourself, measure your self

Go by clothes size and how you feel then. If you feel good at a size 10 and it is achievable for you then make that your aim.

I guess that sounds good. Although would probably still need to weigh each week to know that I am still loosing? As in, I am not going to drop a dress size in a week, but I might in lb? I feel a bit like if I don't have a weekly progress check, I might not be getting anywhere and not realise it?

hi,

i'm due my third baby any day now and this is definately the last one so after this i want to seriously lose weight and get fitter (thats the main thing for me).

when i met dh i was a size 10.....but i was 21 and i'm now about to be 33 and i don't think i will ever be a size 10 on the bottom half again.

between pregnancies i knew i was carrying 1.5 stones more than i wanted to but i wasn't prepared top do the hard wok when i knew i wanted other children (this pregnancy i have put on three stone so i may want to lose four?!)....however, i think going by clothes size works for me.

if i get into a size 10 top and size 12 bottom i would be thrilled (having ticked along as a size 12 top and 16 bottom)

I decided I want to lose a stone, because that would get me back under a BMI of 25 with a bit of room for my weight to fluctuate. But really whatever amount you lose will be a good thing if you're overweight, after the baby's arrived obviously.

If you want to be able to track how you're changing, you could weigh yourself once a week and keep a note of it. As you get closer to the shape/size you want, you'll know it by looking at yourself and how your clothes fit. Or you could measure round your bust, waist and hips and see how they go down.

I know what you mean about wanting something tangible to see that you're progressing - that way you can tell if you are being effective or need to make a bit more of a push.

You sound much like me, I had no interest in loosing weight after DD was born as I new I wanted another baby. BUT that meant I spent all my breastfeeding days stuffing my face and gaining loads of weight!

What puzzles me, is that I was breastfeeding AND pregnant and still piled on loads of weight!!! If I had eaten healthy I probably could have used that to help me not gain excess weight during this pregnancy. Oh well.

I am not too worried if I don't get down to a 10. A 12 would be fine thinking about it. I am aware that a fe years have passed BUT I am still only 22 and feel about 40 and that is one thing I want to change.
