Hi...

Have read some of the other posts about SW. Struggling to understand.

Do I basically have a green day or a red day and exactly what is the difference.

Have lost two stone with WW and need to lose the last 11 pounds but feel like a change and that WW not really fitting with me anymore so would like to try SW, I have just started an exercise class and cant really afford to pay for the class plus SW so wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction. There is a meeting tomorrow and thinking about attending to collect all the necessary literature... do I need all of this?

Thx ladies.

Ive never done SW myself but I think that on a red day you eat more meat and veg but less carbs, and in a green day you eat carbs (potatoes, rice etc) and less meat. Have you tried Slim fast? For yourself that hasnt very much left to lose it might be good. Its what im on at the moment (Altough ive got a bit more than 11 pounds left to lose lol!!)

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/02/2009 15:01

Was thinking of slim fast but just want to make sure that as soon as i stop doing something i dont put it back on iykwim and have tried once before and felt hungry... may well just try the carbs one day and meat etc another and see whether that helps.

There is a SW meeting tonight and thought i might go and get the talk and the books.. will cost 9.50 and on ebay by the time the bidding is done it is at least that price for the books anyway.

I'm in exact;y the same boat but in reverse! i lost 2 stone with sw and swapped to ww for my last stone. Gosh, lasted what, 5 weeks and have switched back - all that weighing and measuring, no thanks.

With SW you have either a red day - limited carbs (taken as a healthy extra) and as much meat as you can eat (literally)

and green is limited meat (measured healthy extra) and as much carbs as you can eat(honest)

on top of that all fruit and veg is free and so are 0% fat yoghurts, yep eat as much as you feel.

You also have other 'healthy extras' that you have 2 of every day so I had one as cereals in the morning. Then there is the calcium Healthy Extras where you are allowed so much milk and 1oz of cheese every day.

You then have 10-15 syns to have a day on top. Their rule is if you're hungry you're not doing the plan right.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 17/02/2009 09:52

thanx furball... i have really found ww great despite the weighing etc but do feel like a change.

so today i had a wholemeal pitta, low fat humus and tomatoes with a coffee for breakfast... casn i make this a red day so that i can have meat for the rest of the day... and is there any way that i can figure out the syns etc without attending or getting the books etc.

If you go to slimmingworld.co.uk and just register a password for you to access the syns. SW publish at their meetings a weekly password, but someone here normally posts it. This week it is

Swimming

if you look up at the right hand corner it has syns and can look up 1001 things.

BTW - your pita will have to be a healthy extra and your humus syns although no many.

Don't forget your milk and cheese

hungry horse has summed it up well here

thx furball

Furball, thanks for posting the password, I am joing SW next week so that will really help. I was meant to start today but have been so ill. Anyway, how do I log in without a username? I went onto the website but if I go to login it asks for a username as well as a password?

Furball · 17/02/2009 19:23

you need to create one - it will also ask you for your class, just click on any close to your postcode, that'll be fine

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 19:46

Thank you, I have just done it. So basically, can you do the whole diet online this way, without paying a weekly fee? We are soo skint but really want to do it. Would still go to the first one to get the books but would be really good not having to pay every week.

Is it the same as doing the online diet that you pay for?

Furball · 17/02/2009 21:11

Yes AFAIK it is, just get the books, - they also have a magazine which is cheaper at class, but you could pick one up from supermarket/newsagent which are handy for extra recipes etc.

shed load of recipes here

also if you search the intrnet and facebook for slimming world groups/recipes there are loads.

Good Luck!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 21:59

Thank you, you have been so helpful.

Just realised I am meant to be looking after another baby for the next few tuesday mornings!! ARGH! If I join online will I still get sent the books etc?

I want to start it in the next few days ideally!

Do you have a good link or anything that fully explains the extra easy plan, in dummy language for somebody who has nevr done a diet in her life? I want to do a weekly meal planner each week but I just can't for the life of me figgure out how it all works!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 22:02

And if I join online will I have the option to go to a group? It is the same price isn't it?

Furball · 17/02/2009 22:13

tis quite confusing initially

if you look at the sw website there are 3 sorts of menu to check out with rough rules

green
red and green
extra easy

and like i siad - look at facebook there are loads of groups there that may have posted more info

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 22:15

I have looked at the SW website but just get more confused! I also have a magazine. Sorry I am not with it at the moment though - major baby brain!

I will have a look at FB now.

THANK YOU!

Furball · 17/02/2009 22:19

cor blimey - to join postal is £50 to join online is £60 and double

is there not another class you could find?

someone here has a couple of books for sale - she may sell seperately if the asda book was of no use?

Furball · 17/02/2009 22:21

couple more weeks info about extra easy here

Furball · 17/02/2009 22:22

more recipes

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 22:24

Yes I have just seen those prices too!!

The thing I would really like about getting all the paperwork is having the bits to fill in, like a diary. Was thinking maybe I can find this online somewhere? Off to look now but my back is killing me so can't spend much longer on here!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/02/2009 23:33

Have found a group that is not local but do-able for a day that is tomorrow that I am considering going to. Will they clock me though as soon as I tel them where I live? I can't actually admitt I am not going back can I? I just want to go to one group, get all the stuff and then hopefully do it all from home, with the help of the magazines, mumsnet etc. And then maybe do classes after my baby is born?

Furball · 18/02/2009 07:00

They shouldn't ask, but if it's mentioned, just say it's close to your aunties house where you visit on a wednesday, or make up an address and phone number as you will deffo get a courtesy call from the consultant half way through the week calling to see how you are getting on. - don't let that put you off though.

The diary, I suggest you photocopy as soon as you get it or you could design your own on word and print it off, it's not that good
