Hi all,

Well I've had a terrible time with my weight yo-yoing since my teens, I lost 5.5 stone, but have now put back on 2.5 of that due to 2 pregnancies and a sedentry lifestyle.

Anyway, I've bit the bullet and joined the gym and my gym induction is on Friday.

What should I expect? I did a class about a year ago with the bloke doing my induction and it was such hard work I was nearly sick and never went back

I don't want to feel sick when exercising, but is that something I should expect to be the norm?

I desperately want to firm up and lose some weight before my best friend's wedding in almost 4 months.

I currently weigh just over 11 stone and have accepted that WW/diet alone doesn't work for me. I KNOW I need to get moving.

How much could I potentially lose/achieve in 4 months, and what would I need to do to achieve this?

Any advice greatly received!

I agree, it was my dentist that suggested the juicing long term was a very bad idea too.
But for breaking the cycle of stuffing your face ie Christmas for example it's a good 2 week thing to do.
I however nearly stabbed DH due to lack of tea so am banned from ever doing it again

Agree about the sugar intake with juices on teeth. Definately drink a glass of water straight after. If you eat a couple of nuts (brazils/almonds) with the juice you'll actually slow the absorbtion of the fruit sugars down, whilst getting some good fats in at the same time.

(Ooooh some people on other threads would flame me for mentioning the fact you can eat fat!!!)

I think fat is much maligned and if british women ate more protein and fat and less junk food, bad carbs they'd feel a lot better both mentally and physically.

Spot on. Generally even one in this country eats too many carbs, especially those who aren't that active.

Carbs are used for energy, the less energetic yuou are, the less carbs you need. Protein and fats have other beneficial uses, but too many "low fat" adverts give good, poly and mono unstaturated fats a bad name.
