...I Can Make you Slim? Does it work? Do you recommend it?

Hello - I'm gonna join in here if I can?

The way I see it is that I've not lost weight through anything else and i'm fat anyway so wheres the harm in trying it?

kkey21 · 05/01/2009 21:46

Count me in!

I want to loose min of 2 stone by June but 3 stone would be even better!

Just ordered the 5 cd's and book from Ebay. I am also eating sensibly and taking mild exercise.

LuckySalem · 05/01/2009 21:49

Its on Living on Mondays at 8pm as well.

I need to lose about 4/5 stone by April 2010 without becoming the loose flesh woman..... [shudder] can imagine the flaps of skin.

sweetheart · 07/01/2009 15:05

Hi, I wondered if there would be a Paul McKenna thread.

I have started following it - not just beacuse I want to loose weight but because I know I have a very unhealthy and distructive relationship with food. I want to teach myself to eat normally again and un do all the bad habbits I have learnt through years of habitual dieting.

I have actually looked into going to one of his seminars so I may see how it goes before I sign up.

I'm also currently seeing a personal traininer and go to the gym at least 4 times a week.

I'm off to Florida in 13 weeks so I think a realistic goal is to loose a stone in that time.

glitterkitty · 08/01/2009 12:52

Just to say I got the book for xmas- read it on Sat 3 and started listening to the CD- I have been astonished at how easy it has made it to eat much less! I'm prob eating a third as much as I was before!

Its brilliant because its the only book I have come across that addresses emotional eating- I'd carry on with his golden rules even if I didnt lose the weight.

Having said that I have lost 4lbs already, so I'm made up!

I'd really recommend this- its not a diet its a new relationship with food.

sweetheart · 08/01/2009 13:02

Glitter - that's exactly why I'm using it - to change my awful eating habits!

I haven't read the part about cravings and stuff yet becuase I actually haven't needed to. I'm doing ok just sticking to thr rules so far!

I am wondering about drink's though - there are certain drinks that if I was on a diet I wouldn't touch I.e milk shakes. Does the same rule apply as with food do you think?

I normally get on my scales every morning but have so far resisted. I weighed on Monday and the book says not to weigh for 2 weeks. Not sure I'll be able to hold out that long but I'll give it a go. I even thought about asking my dh to hide the scales from me.

I have lost my cd but am trying to get hold of another one so I can start listening to that too. I know it made a big difference last time I listened to it.

How is everyone else getting on? I found last night that the TV series is on my "on demand" setting on Virgin Media - so if you miss an episode you can watch it on that.

I also looked into going to one of his seminars. There is one on Jan 24th but it's £250 so I think I'll give the book, cd and TV series a go first.

LuckySalem · 08/01/2009 23:30

Hey all,

Right well this is going well. I've been on a "diet" since beginning of the year and have now lost 3lbs so I'm dead chuffed.

I'm gonna start excersising more now I think, Gonna walk to swimming baths and maybe get the bus back again for now but I want to build it up to walking there, swimming and walking back

iMum · 09/01/2009 12:23

Im doing it-since 1st jan and have so far lost 4 pounds-ive got about 4 stone to loose tho.

mumski · 09/01/2009 12:44

Bought the book about 18 months ago which came with a CD in the back of it. is this the same as the one you are refering to KKey21?
Are his TV progs only on sky as only have freeveiw.
Did listen to the CD but probably didn't give it a fair chance.

thirtysomething · 09/01/2009 12:46

I'd like to do this too - which is the best of his books/Cds to buy?

sweetheart · 09/01/2009 14:03

His TV programme is on Living so you can get it on virgin media but I'm not sure about freeview. On virgin media it is available "on demand" so you can watch it any time you like.

The book is "Paul McKenna I can make you thin" and it comes with the cd in the back of the book.

I "think" I am doing really well although I am trying not to weigh for the first 2 weeks as the book suggests.

I identify with so many of the bad habits that are highlighted in the book and it is nice to be breaking them after so long.

I brought the book quite a while ago too and didn't really give it a fair crack at first but it is going really well 2nd time round.

I have been to the gym 4 times this week and played netball too.

I started on Monday and although I haven't weighed since then I would guess from how I feel that I have lost the 6Ibs I put on over Xmas.

How is everyone else doing?

ThornyRose · 09/01/2009 14:06

Can someone give me a rough idea of what he says regarding bad eating habits so i can see if its wirth buying

Lauriefairycake · 09/01/2009 14:09

You can get it on QVC www.qvcuk.com and if you don't like it or it has no effect you can send it back within 30 days and your account is refunded no quibble at all.

CatMandu · 09/01/2009 14:12

I started a couple of days ago, uploaded the cd into my i-pod and the tv programmes have been on this week too. I don't know if I've lost any weight, but I have been eating so much better. I did one of his techniques for chocolate cravings and have gone from a very large bar of chocolate a night to none with no pangs. So far, so good.

sweetheart · 09/01/2009 14:13

well......... (you're going to wish you hadn't asked now! )

He teaches how to distinguish between actual hunger and emotional hunger wether that be from stress, boredom, upset etc. so that you eat whatever you want so long as you are hungry.

You have to eat slowly so that you can taste the food and also relise when you are full so you can stop rather than clearing your plate just beacuse your mother taught you to.

There are lots of habits that habitual dieter's have - like weighing themselves more than they should or eating quickly without thinking until the plate is empty rather than just eating enough to fill them up, or eating diet food because they think they should but then still craving nice food, or starving themselves if they have preiously binged.

It also teaches you how to speed up your matabolism by listening to your body's hunger signals.

There are also techniques to overcome cravings when your not hungry and also lots of techniques about being able to like your body.

The list goes on and on - infact he should be paying me for all the promotion I've done for him this week!

ThornyRose · 09/01/2009 14:40

Thanks sweetheart.

I definatly eat when I'm upset so it might be worthwhile having a look.

Thanks for the link Laurie

kkey21 · 10/01/2009 19:56

sweetheart · 12/01/2009 11:07

Ok well I weighed this morning - I couldn't wait 2 whole weeks!

I've lost 5Ib in the first week which I'm really pleased with. I have been eating whatever I want, even had a McDonalds at the weekend and still lost weight! I'm going to watch episode 2 of his programee tonight to spur me on for this week.

How is everyone else doing?

VampiresWalkin · 12/01/2009 11:20

My mum is raving about this atm

LuckySalem · 12/01/2009 20:27

I weighed myself on the 10h so in 10 days I'd lost 7lbs although I have been abit ill so that would explain the weight loss.

sweetheart · 13/01/2009 11:12

my trousers feel loose today - didn't have to get on the scales for thet hey - yippee

StepfordKnife · 19/01/2009 13:41

Is this thread not particularly active?

I'm a late convertee to Paul McKenna - I sky plussed his 'I can make you thin' and have only just started to watch them. I've been following the 4 golden rules for around 5 days now - and it's remarkable. I feel liberated and happy around food. As I can eat what I want with no 'bad' forbidden foods, I find that I actually don't want the chocolate mini rolls in the cupboard - when you can help yourself to them (as long as you are hungry) their mystery and allure disappears!

I've been eating sooo much less effortlessly - by listening to my body's full signals.

Feeling quite evangelical about it, and boring everybody shitless with it!

StepfordKnife · 19/01/2009 13:42

so much less, effortlessly

(oops punctuation was important there)

sweetheart · 21/01/2009 16:09

STK - I am exactly the same, infact I should be getting paid for my promotional work!

I've been doing it for 2.5 weeks now and have lost 10Ib. My constant worry and fear about food has dissapeared and I feel relaxed about making food choices.

Last week i thought the weight loss wouldn't continue but it did - I feel similar this week but I'll find out on Monday.

I'm not exactly doing this for weight loss though - I'm mostly doing it to improve the way I eat and behave around food. It's already done me the world of good!

sjones76 · 07/03/2009 12:24

Hiya, I'm just wondering how everyone's getting on with this? Saw it on TV and not sure whether to give it a try or not. I've got about 3 st to lose.
