Anyone else been using the Beck/CBT approach?

I have just bought the book and I am trying to be disciplined. So far (day 2, heh heh heh) it's going really well

I'd welcome hearing from others who are trying to buddy up with?

What's the Beck/CBT approach? I have never heard of it!

over here

It's basically a cognitive therapy approach to trying to lose weight. In other words, the book is about practising tasks to train your sabotaging thoughts rather than just focusing on what you can or can't eat.

so she recommends NOT dieting for the first two weeks, while you do a task each day (like, day 1, is make a card listing the advantages of losing weight that you commit to reading twice a day etc...)

I have used CBT to good effect before, and though it seems lame at the start, the repetition, challenging thoughts and regular reminders of healthy thinking can actually help change things.

She doesn't even recommend any particular food! That bit is up to you.

Anyhow, I'm now on day 6 and my day 6 task is to find myself a 'diet buddy'. Anyone fancy doing it along with me?

How is it going Wilfspell. I am very tempted to give it a go! Does it work along the same lines as Paul Mckenna - Think yourself thin??? I did this a while back and did quite well, but went back to the old ways Have you lost anything this week??
