I have never been on a diet . . .

but I think I need to . . .

I am 5 feet 4. Until I was 40 I was 9 stone. (I am now 47). Sometimes a little less in the summer, a little more in the winter. I ate what I wanted, did not go the the gym (but did a lot of walking - kids to school, out with the dog, etc).

I went back to work full time three and a half years ago, and since then, my weight has crept up to 11 stone and I hate it. I have a big tummy and enormous thighs. How can I get back to a decent weight? I don't have a bad diet, always cook from scratch and eat a lot of fruit and veg. I very rarely eat things like crisps, cake and sweets although I do drink a fair bit of wine . . . (Yes, I know that's full of empty calories so that will have to stop!)

Can anybody suggest a diet that will give me a good kickstart? I enjoy food and don't want to go down the Slimfast/shakes/bars route.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions

I recommend Rick Gallop's GI diet. It has worked wonders for me. You may need to get his recipe book as well as the main one though as that lacks recipes. It is a really enjoyable diet to do and I feel much more educated about food having read it.

Not a diet as such - but I have had mucho success (four stones since january)

Small plate
Low carb
Water, water, water
Exercise

Good luck
