Can you get a tummy tuck on the NHS?

I know the answer is no if its just for cosmetic reasons but if you have a really awful hanging tummy that will not shift after 3 babies and is really causing emotional problems for you, lack of confidence in yourself plus with your partner, then is it possible to have the op on the NHS if you see your doctor?

MUM23ASDF totally agree with all you say but sounds like you have made the right move by feeling happy to disucss with your doc and you absolutely must get a smear test booked at your next appt.

I have just had a look at your thread and wow, those before and after pics are amazing .. I definitely saw my belly there so if I can see the results those people did I would be over the moon.

I have appt with my GP next week so will see if they can recommend local surgeons, in the meantime been sent details from local BUPA hospital quoting around £5,200. Even though it's cheaper to go abroad I am not that brave so def staying in the UK ... if I ever get to get it done... just need to find the money! Need to buy a lottery ticket, if I had the money I would book in tomorrow! Have not even spoken with my husband about it .. will wait until I've got all the details and costings then need to sit down and talk to him about it and how I feel. Although he knows I am so self conscious of it, I would hope he will be supportive and realise how low its making me feel.

be great to hear how you get on at your appt. Take care x

"All i would say would be to go there and really really lay it on thick about how much it gets to you - tears are helpful too."

What a dreadful attitude.

I'd love to have a tummy tuck myself but have accepted I'll hve to pay privately or go without.
To be honest when you hear in the news of desperately ill children being turned away from paediatric wards, I'm glad the NHS is not prioritising its limited funds on cosmetic procedures. I'd rather they spent it on desperately ill children.

Chiltree a tummy tuck won’t help you to lose the baby weight, it’s for excess skin removal, and rejoining separates muscles.
