Tips for 'lazy' weight loss - Is there such a thing?

I am being my sisters bridesmaid in April and need to loose about 3/4 stone.

Trouble is I am lazy! I love my food and can eat and eat and eat without getting full. When I was pg I ate for about 1000 and put on loads of weight.

My face, chest and bum dont look fat its my arms, stomach, hips and thighs that are holding the fat.

I walk with dd a few times a week, have tried the excercise bike but just get bored. I dont have the money to join a gym.

Any tips on how I can do it? Fittings for my dress start in 2 months time. Thanks x

Is that 3 to 4 stone or 3 quarters of a stone?

My top tip is to eat very slowly - then you won't need to eat so much before you feel full.

Try walking every day. How old is your dd?

I have lost about a stone over the past 8 months. I can honestly say that my exercise levels haven't increased. I based in loosely on Rosemary Conleys GI Jeans diet but not too closely as I would have been too hungry.

In my case DH and I had got into some bad food habits such as snacking in the evening and not eating enough fruit & veg. Simply by cutting out ice cream in the evening, having cereal for breakfast and bringing fruit and ahealthy snack into work, I found it really easy.Portion size is important too, but after a few days you find you are not as hungry.

Unfortunately its a slow way to lose weight, the good news is that the weight tendsto stay off.

Enjoy the wedding.

3 - 4 stone!

Dd is 4 months old. We do try to walk but some days its just nicer to stay in and play with her!

Dp has banded me from having anything sweet except for Sundays. We are eating more veg but its so expensive its easier to buy frozen crap.

I might try using a smaller plate to see if that works. Thanks.

Could you not pop her in the pushchair and walk whilst she has her nap?

Smaller plate is also a good idea - I sometimes do this as our plates are huge and I'll just fill them up and scoff the lot.

Are you really hungry before your meals? When I did weightwatchers they tried to get you to know your own 'hunger cues' or something like that so that you would eat before you were really hungry and wouldn't eat really quickly to try and make yourself feel full.

You could eat frozen veg - its just as nutritious as fresh and good if you're on a budget.

Another tip is to write down everything you eat - and that means everything - it helps to put it all into perspective - and then if you have a good week and lose weight you can use your food diary to eat similar foods again and continue to lose weight.

A food diary is a great idea. I might do it by calories and fat content.

Is there anywhere online you can find all the weightwatcher info ie points etc instead of joining up?

Start off just recording what you eat at first otherwise it'll get too complicated and then you'll stop doing it.

Think there is somewhere - will have a hunt...

Brilliant, thanks.

you can calculate the points using this calculation:

To calculate the WW points take the calories (kcal) for the portion of food you want and divide by 70, then take the saturated fat (also for the portion) and divide by 4. Add these 2 number together and round to the nearest 0.5. This is the number of points. So you don?t have to buy their calculator to work out the points for foods not listed.

So kcal/70 plus saturated fat/4.

lauraloola · 18/10/2008 21:59

Thats great, thanks. I will give it go as you can still eat nice food just in moderation! Thanks again.

No problem - think there is a ww's thread somewhere where people will be able to give you lots of support.

Good luck - and take each day at a time!
