Could I join you please? I like your ideas about sensible eating and it helped me but my will power is down at the moment and I could do with some help. I'm also on some other threads as well and I've just found you today.

Thank you, rubyloopy. I'm very happy to hear more tips on sensible eating and I don't do dieting apart from when I tried to follow no carbs after 5 PM which really helped me shift almost 7 kg and even when I went back to eating carbs after 5 I still didn't get back to where I was before. Diets often do that to people - once you stop, you are back to where you were if not worse so I'm full of praise for no carbs after 5 although it was hard as DH always has pots or rice with his dinner. I'm not always strong though and I can't have good ice cream (cornish vanilla) in the house without being tempted to have it after dinner. I also like castard creams and some other things which I should avoid to stay away from putting on weight so I need some support. What helps is snacking on fruit or veg, even nuts and having smaller portions of food, no second helpings (when I cook it's almost impossible not to as I spent so much time and effort).

Well done Chocolatespiders. I too, have been inspired by Ruby, and have had 2 really good days.

Ruby - I found the No No flatbreads - yum!

The idea of having 2 squares of choc is great - something to look forward to.

ruby, you are a star! You have inspired so many people. It's fantastic to have such sound advice. Thank you!

yaz2 · 23/08/2008 15:59

Well done Ruby. I needed a positive role model about now my waist seem to be getting bigger and my motivation is shrinking rapidly. Anyway have just promised my self to get moving and do some exercise and watch the carbs and drink more water. Thanks again for the boost in motivation.

Congratulations!!! that's brilliant. I need to drop a dress size, so may well follow your pointers. I've already resolved to walk the school runs most days...that'll add up to 20 miles a week. Phew! I must do it though.

Thanks for telling your story.

blueskythinker · 28/08/2008 21:51

Well I have been trying to follow Ruby's advice, and on the whole, I have done pretty well, although I know that I still need to drink more water (and probably keep an eye on the portion sizes). I love the tip of using a smaller plate.

I have fallen in love with flatbreads and pumpkin seed Ryvitas!

We now officially have no biscuits in the house, although I have some 76% dark chocolate lurking in my cupboard .

Tomorrow is one of my work days, and I'm pretty pleased to say that I have my packed lunch ready & waiting in the fridge.

I have lost a kilo this week so far!
