I am really really struggling with my diet, for the last couple of days all I have wanted is to dive into the bottom of a packet of digestives.

Pre-diet I could easily eat a family size packet. I went to bed on Wednesday night with a full packet as I was feeling a bit fed up, never having time to myself, a bath in peace, any help with housework etc, also dd2 has been ill with a bug that is doing the rounds and is quite clingy.

So, I went to bed and in the end felt so guilty at thinking about eating them I brought the full unopened packed back downstairs and put them away.

Since then though I have been nearly crying because I just want to pig out. Its weigh in tomorrow, and although I have been on plan all week and done well and even managed a bit of exercise, I am still dreading it and getting butterflies and the feelings of a dodgy tummy.

Does anyone else want to eat something not on plan so much that they could cry and do other people get nervous the day before weigh in.

Sorry for the rant needed to get it off my chest as DH and I aren't speaking much so have no-one to speak to after a day with the kids.

Hi Bubbles
I know exactly what you're going through... I think it's because us mums rarely get any respite unless dd/ds are absolute angels so I occassionally give in to 'nerve fodder' as I call it Somebody recommended to me to have a low call hot chocolate drink to get over the 'I WANT SOMETHING NAUGHTY NOW' and it really helps.

Hope you feel more upbeat soon.

I'm not weighing myself this week as the diet is out of the window with my dad visiting from Germany and cooking for us...

Back on track on Monday though

hi bubbles, deffinetly feel like this at times and worse!! dont give up hun. could you not have a couple biscuits? just take them out of the pack and put the packet away so if you want more you have to get up and get it instead of just reaching for another, helps me cos more thought is needed and if I am eating out of boredom, comfort etc I have to think before i get another one and most times I decide i dont need it.

Get some yummy things that aren't fattening like for eg Fabs in the freezer - they are godsends! Or Iced Gems which are delicious and come in little bags so you aren't tempted to eat the whole packet.

It sounds as if you are really sad and stressed because you and your dh aren't talking and you've had a hard day with all your responsibilities. Can you take some time for yourself? What about after the kids have gone to bed, having a hot bath and reading a magazine or book in bed and generally being nice to yourself? If you are tired and unhappy it's very tempting to give in to food treats. I think most of us do it. I know I do.

I've just stopped crying, I went to have a soak, but as usual, dh did nothing to stop the kids coming upstairs and pestering me. Whilst the bath was running I went on my cross trainer, but even though he knows its dangerous he let them come in the room, he was sat watching the tele, he also left the kids dinner plates on the breakfast bar instead of putting them in the bin, I am so at the minute, I'm surprised I can do day to day things at the minute, never mind continue with dieting the way I feel at the minute, and the best thing is, he doesn't even seem to notice

I'm not surprised you're hungry - it's a classic, you need comfort and you need to feel better. You poor love. I know it's easier - MUCH easier - said than done, but pleeeease get him to talk.

motherinferior · 04/02/2005 19:21

Or rather get him to listen!

MrsBigD · 04/02/2005 19:48

he definitely needs to listen, spec if your kids get into danger because he's glued to the tele!

I have lost about a stone and a half since having my DS last November. I am struggling to lose the rest of the weight. I have a very baggy tummy and my DH says my bottom is too big. I am feeling very depressed as I thought I was doing really well to lose the weight. Are there any exercises I can do at home which could tighten my tummy muscles up and lose the weight off my backside. I am breastfeeding my DS and this has helped a lot.
