Honest answers appreciated.

I was 8 1/2 stone 5'7 before DD (8mo), have always been thin. Now I am 11 stone and have been since DD born. I am breast feeding, dont seem to find the time to exercise. Food for me on a normal day would be bagal for breakfast, few nuts mid-morning, low fat cream cheese sandwich for lunch, packet of low fat snack thing (~85 cal), proper meal in evening e.g chicken with creme fresh sauce and rice or chilli made with quorn, no dessert unless strawberries. I drink decaf coffee no sugar or diet drink, one glass of juice per day and one small glass of semi-skimmed milk. No alcohol. No thyroid problems (I had it checked in desperation!).

Where am I going wrong? I used to eat much more than this and never had low-fat food or diet drinks, loved chocolate. I am not putting weight on just not taking it off! I was sure I'd just pop back into shape. Is it really all down to exercise? I wasn't very good at that before.

It took me a year with DS1. Dieting doesn't work - your body just thinks there's a famine and stores fat. You need to eat sensibly, but regularly and increase activity. Personally, I believe diet drinks and other diet products contribute to the problem. How often do you see a thin person eating low fat crisps?

I used to walk for at least 1 hour per day, pushing buggy, fast, up hill, as much as poss. Drink lots of water while you go.

For DS2, it only took 6 months, and I put that entirely down to the fact that I was pushing a much heavier tandem buggy, so keep the pram well loaded with shopping too.

You need a good waterproof coat, so there are no excuses and it's actually really good to have a reason to get out everyday. Walking in the rain is one of life simple pleasures

You're probably right, I never used to eat low fat stuff before x
