Anyone want to join me? 3 Ibs in 7 days

Hi I need to loose 1 stone, I mentally need that initial quick loss to keep motivated. I’m aiming for 3 pounds in 7 days starting 21/07/26.
i will do a protein shake for dinner, 1 for lunch and a healthy evening meal. Mostly veg with lean protein or fish. Low calorie snacks only. Would be great if anyone could join for accountability, I’m happy to post what I eat and when I eat as hoping that will embarrass me into not constantly snacking 😬

Another work day here, had a shake for breakfast and lunch, chopped cucumber and celery with hummus and a chilli rice cake. Just had dinner which was pasta bolognaise, however I halved the portion DH served me and added extra sauce instead. I’m treating myself to 1 single glass of Prosecco as it’s my Saturday to work tomorrow. Also this morning I got on the scales and have lost a pound! Probably water weight but it’s given me a mental boost. Has anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

@Hedgepiggy - sounds like a lovely evening! I had spaghetti bolognese tonight too. My husband said we should get a takeaway but I refused. Good job on the -1lb, it's motivating when you start to see the scale move.

Off to the gym tomorrow morning, then the cinema with the kids. We're thinking of going to the beach on Sunday - so that will be my treat day as we'll eat out for lunch and I'll get an ice cream for sure!

letsdoitforaweek · 25/07/2026 09:28

I had a bit more food yesterday as was out all day and evening, so combination of circumstances/hunger/slightly bad planning. Anyway, not too bad. I also by coincidence had cucumber with hummus at lunchtime.

Am back on it today and bizarrely down 3lbs from Tuesday, which I've got to assume is mostly water weight from fewer carbs, even though I had bread yesterday. Very weird. Very good though. Am now only 8lbs above my target weight. Amazing that I could potentially get there from just 3 more weeks of doing this (not consecutively though as it's hard)

Thanks so much for starting this thread @Hedgepiggy

What are you seeing at the cinema @ThinksALot ? I went to see the Odyssey last night, crikey it's a lot!

ThinksALot · 25/07/2026 10:31

Morning!

Just got back from the gym, I'm off to see Minions and Monsters with the kids and some friends - I will take a packed lunch with me! I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing this film.

Managed another snack free night last night - whoop!

I weighed myself this morning (I do every morning), and I'm down 3lbs since Tuesday - hopefully I can maintain that over the weekend...

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday!

letsdoitforaweek · 26/07/2026 07:35

This thread was such a good idea.

How was the film @ThinksALot ? Great work on the snacking (lack of)

We're in the final 2 days now!

ThinksALot · 26/07/2026 08:09

Morning!

Just got back from a 3k run - it should've been easy but felt hard!!

Yesterday didn't go quite to plan - I took my lunch to the cinema (sourdough cheese and salad sandwich, cherries and popcorn). I ate the sandwich and then proceeded to buy and eat pick n mix. But I did stop eating it half way through the bag, which is a miracle as I usually eat the whole lot and feel sick afterwards, so I'll take that as a win. We had a BBQ last night - lamb kofte, feta salad, halloumi and new potatoes - was lush!

What's everyone up to today? I'm about to get ready to go to the beach...but it is raining!

ThinksALot · 26/07/2026 08:09

@letsdoitforaweek - film was so so. Not the best minion film but still enjoyable.

Hedgepiggy · 26/07/2026 20:40

Hi all sorry didn’t post yesterday but had a good day food wise. I did crack around 8pm and had a kitkat but only a normal 2 finger one!

Today was more tricky as went out for lunch with family, I had the roast chicken only had 1 roast potato, half a giant Yorkshire pudding and filled up on lovely veg, I did have a small ice cream as everyone else had one and didn’t want to start the whole healthy eating conversation 🙄

Had a shake this evening and going to head up before 10 for an early night. We are so close to the end!! I’m hoping to finish at least 2 pounds down. I haven’t been to the gym but have tried to get at least 8000 steps a day. Might try and fit in a couple of sessions this week. I’m currently recovering from an injury so limited in what I can do, but figure a bit of low impact cardio is better than nothing.
@ThinksALot BBQ food sounds amazing!

Morning!

@Hedgepiggy - sounds like you handled the meal out yesterday really well!

We had a great day at the beach - I had a meal out and ice cream as planned but made sure not to overeat - the portions at the pub were huge!

Off to do pickleball with the kids today (I'm off work this week too) and then I will do a gym session tonight.

I'm looking forward to maintaining the no snacking and healthy eating this week. I've got 1 stone and 1lb to go to be at a healthy BMI under 25. Last October my BMI was over 40 - I feel so much better in myself and my goal is in sight...

ThinksALot · 27/07/2026 18:10

Evening!

How has everyone's day been?

All good here - usual breakfast of 0% fat greek yoghurt, mixed berries and home made granola. Lunch was a chicken and feta salad and some cherries afterwards. For dinner I made a chilli but had mine with roasted cauliflower instead of rice, followed by a 10 calorie jelly. Off to the gym in an hour.

I sorted out my wardrobe today and tried on a lot of my old clothes that are now way too big for me. It was good motivation to keep going.

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow!

letsdoitforaweek · 27/07/2026 18:32

Exciting about the old clothes @ThinksALot !

Doing ok here, have been having a bit more food than earlier in the 7 days but still quite restrained.

I seem to have levelled off at being down by 2lbs, which I'm so happy about!

Even better, my bum measurement (widest part, I'm pear shaped) is down by nearly half an inch. It's a really stubborn area so that's wonderful. I have 1.5 inches left to go.

I'm up for round 2 after a short break if anyone else is?

Hedgepiggy · 27/07/2026 20:10

Hi all, I had a good day stuck to everything I planned to eat and was so busy at work I had to remind myself to have a piece of fruit late afternoon.
I think I’m getting used to the lower calories. I’m thinking about carrying on! Partly because prepping work lunch is so much quicker and I am a little lazy 😆 Going to weigh in tomorrow morning to see my final weight of the week, hoping for 3 pounds but will be happy with 2.
Well done @ThinksALot and @letsdoitforaweekand thank you for the company!

Morning!

So I've lost 3.7lbs this week - whoop! I'm very happy with that and am very happy with my overall nutrition and exercise - it's been a really positive week. I think having some accountability here has definitely helped. I'm up for continuing if anyone else is?

Good luck for your weigh ins @Hedgepiggy and @letsdoitforaweek

letsdoitforaweek · 28/07/2026 08:45

That's excellent @ThinksALot what a result! Good luck @Hedgepiggy

I'm exactly 2lbs down, very happy with that as I was less strict as the week went on. Four days in, I had lost 3lbs so I went back up a bit but I think the lower weight was a temporary effect from fewer carbs.

So now I have 9lbs left till my goal weight.

Shall we continue on here, or a new thread?

ThinksALot · 28/07/2026 17:21

@letsdoitforaweek - a 2lb loss is great! I bet you're really pleased - and you're so near to your target!

Happy to stay on this thread if easier?

letsdoitforaweek · 28/07/2026 18:46

Great, let's stay here. I'm having a day off today - pretty high carb so far and pasta defrosting for dinner! - but can get back on it tomorrow.

I'm really keen to get back into the 75% of my wardrobe which is too tight at the moment!

Hedgepiggy · 28/07/2026 19:02

I also lost 2 pounds! I’m super pleased and very happy to keep going! Will probably incorporate cheat days as eldest DD baked blondies today and I really want one! To be fair I had a shake for dinner as the rest of the family had pizza and salad and I really didn’t fancy it. Been at work today but have a day off tomorrow so plan on tidying in the morning and taking the kids out for a few hours in the afternoon. Hopefully being busy will reduce the food noise!

well done on such good results @ThinksALot and @letsdoitforaweekand anyone else who may be lurking but not posting 😊

letsdoitforaweek · 29/07/2026 08:11

Great work @Hedgepiggy ! I'm excited to be continuing with this.

ThinksALot · 29/07/2026 08:44

Morning!

Well done @Hedgepiggy - that's a great result! Hope you have a good day off today.

My eldest did some baking yesterday too - an orange and sultana cake - it would have been rude not to have some! Otherwise, was a regular food day for me - DH cooked creamy garlic chicken for dinner (one of my favs), made with double cream, so probably not the best when I'm trying to lose weight but hey ho!

My youngest has a friend round today - we've got lots of activities planned but he wants to go to mcdonalds too...I'm setting out my intention here not to eat it...it never tastes that good when I do have it, so I need to remind myself of that!

ThinksALot · 31/07/2026 11:03

Morning!

How are you getting on @Hedgepiggy and @letsdoitforaweek?

So Wednesday was a write off for me! I caved and had a happy meal and mcflurry and then a friend popped by with wine that evening - so I had a whole bottle and a whole heap of snacks! Nevermind! I had a good night at least!

Was back on it yesterday and food/exercise were on point.

Off out for dinner tonight and will have whatever I want but won't be drinking as I'll need to drive.

I've signed up to a 10k race. Not sure why?! Have not yet run more than 6k...have got 2 months to train. Eek!

letsdoitforaweek · 31/07/2026 17:48

Hi @ThinksALot glad you had a good night on Wednesday, we need a break sometimes!

Don't worry, 2 months is probably enough time, I think. The excitement of the day will give you energy too.

I'm back on a restrained eating plan today after a few days off. For me, preparation is essential, as in knowing what I'm meant to be eating, otherwise it can be a free for all of random snacks. Also I have to get into the mindset each morning. Am weighing myself every day to stay focused.

Have a nice and healthy dinner :)

mumumental · 31/07/2026 23:00

You are at much higher risk of gallstones if you lose more than 2lb /1kg per week.

mondaytosunday · 03/08/2026 15:54

Well bit of a disaster since I last posted. Long story short I developed a twisted ovarian cyst (or rather the cyst was already there but then twisted). Agony. Hospital. Scans. Blood tests. I’m out and they don’t think it’s cancer but won’t know for sure until it’s removed, which as I’m post menopausal and they don’t need to worry about saving the ovary they want to see an MRI first. But anyway the upshot is even though I ate nothing at all that day and very little the next as I was still nil by mouth, and have stuck to under 1400 calories since, I have, according to the scale, lost nothing. Google says it’s probably inflammation and water retention from the drips I was on and to wait a few days before weighing, but it is disheartening! At least it has wiped my appetite (though also my energy). I’m terrified the pain will return before they get it out - 50/50 chance according to the doc!
Today it’s: breakfast 664 calories
avocado
high protein bagel
three streaky bacon
egg
tomatoes
tea

dinner 732 calories
stirfry park and noodles with veg

That leaves about 100 calories to play with which may be coffee with cream or a little chocolate bar or nothing!

ThinksALot · 03/08/2026 18:26

Thanks for cheering us on @Sophie9999! I agree that small, sustainable daily changes are best.

So sorry to hear that @mondaytosunday - it sounds like you've been through it this last week and I would imagine your body is very inflamed. I hope the MRI goes okay. When is it?

I'm due on my period in the next day or two, so I fully expect my weight to increase by a lb or two tomorrow morning - it always does at this time of month and then I lose a few lbs once it starts.

I have started to add protein powder to my Greek yoghurt in the mornings but I'm finding it a little too sweet. Not sure whether to persevere. It's a vanilla flavour...

Hedgepiggy · 03/08/2026 18:36

Hi I’m back on form today after a weekend off! Going to weigh in tomorrow morning and hoping for a small loss fingers crossed.

@mondaytosunday sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. Ovarian cysts are very painful and you are spot on about inflammation and IV fluids. Hopefully things will settle down for you soon.

Yesterday we are out at lunch time but I actually chose one of the lower calorie meals and desserts so didn’t feel guilty and by the evening didn’t feel hungry either so had a small glass of wine and 2 chocolates 🤣

Normal work day for me today, DC are with grandparents for a few days so having a nacho bowl with DH tonight but will make sure I have less nachos than him as still trying to enjoy life but in moderation.

Hopefully will keep on plan for the week!
