Is it worth just try a weight loss injection

since hitting late 30s my body just isn’t responding to exercise/diet. I am just gaining weight. I track everything I eat on Nutracheck and average around 1600-1800 a day each week my maintenance calories are 2200-2400 (depending which calculator I use) I hit 10k steps a day train in the gym 4 times a week (cardio and weight), 2-3 litres of water a day.

Its really getting me down, do I just think fuck it I have tried the ‘proper’ way and now get the extra help from weight loss injection.

People’s experiences of it would be great or any advise for loosing weight in perimenopause please let me know.

Are absolutely certain you are tracking your calories correctly? If so it might be worth trying to increase closer to maintenance to see if it helps.
And if you've ruled out other health issues then you could try WLIs.

I did manage to lose weight in perimenopause but I def noticed a big difference. My weight all seems to have gone round my middle and it's alot more unforgiving now too.
I used to be able to eat badly for a day or two without any effects....now i just gain weight instantly!🙄

Hi op. I haven't noticed any difference dieting in peri (and been on HRT for 3.5yrs) than before peri.

My weight loss sweet spot was always 1200 cals/2lb a week loss.

I'm currently doing 1500/1600 caps and losing about 1lb a week.

Its tracking everything, eating a larger amount of calories as protein and fibre. I also eat 4 squares of 90% chocolate a day when dieting and this doesn't stop it working.

Mind you, it's the winter 4kg that I lose once a year. So not a massive amount.

If you're not losing on your current calories, then you have to drop them further. TDEE is just guidance across a broad range of different people. You can still gain weight eating TDEE if the average doesn't work for you. You'll have to drop by another 250 or 500, see what happens after 4 weeks, and then go from there.

Just to say I feel your pain! Until peri hit I was skinny all my life and could eat whatever I wanted. My body has completely changed within 3 years and my bmi is now 27 ish. I'm not at the jab stage yet but I can't rule it out. I'm counting calories and did see a small loss but unfortunately ive been ill and snacked a lot so have regained. In my case minimising sweet stuff is key plus making sure to eat enough lean protein.

My weight has been completely static for the last 3 years. I’ve upped and down the same 10lbs. I feel like I’m constantly on a diet but the reality is that I eat way too much on the weekends and it overwhelms the slight deficit I manage during the week. I’m exhausted so I don’t exercise as much as I was a few years ago. I don’t think it’s the perimenopause per se, I think it’s the combination of life at this stage- hard work, kids, life, wine, tiredness, sleep quality. If I’m really honest with my calories I can lose 3lb but then all those factors take over and it goes back on. 🤷‍♀️ i also retain a lot of water around my cycle and my cycle is haywire so in short, I have no idea what I weigh really.

4 weeks ago I looked into micro dosing glp1 as I am not over bmi 28, I’m still contemplating it, and now there are tablet forms becoming available even more so. In the interim I decided to change up a bit and do something new so I’ve been following the Zoe plan and for the first time in years I actually have stuck to something properly and lost weight (not much) and have had more calories than I would previously have allowed. I think food quality becomes so much more important at this stage in life.

To add as well, the only thing that’s putting me off the jabs really is the fact that you have to commit forever. I do not want to lose it then just regain it again, and certainly not more. Currently the overwhelming feedback I hear is that regaining is virtually guaranteed.
