Hi peeps,

I am 24, 5 foot 7 and weigh just about 16st.

I really needs to lose weight (obviously)

I have really bad hips so canot walk for too long. Also I work full time nights 21.00 to 08.00, so those nights (4 a wwek) i really pig out as so bored, not aloud to read and there are always goodies around.

Need advice really.
Obviously eat less and excersize.

For example, can you think of good things I can take to work with me to keep me stable!
I think the hardest is, as I do not drink coffee or tea I drink redbull and diet coke.

I have a DS who is 2, and is a little poo and wont go swimming, walk anywhere (always wants to be carried).

No-one else can look after him when i'm not at work, and when I have been at work all night I sleep about 9am to 4.30pm those days.

I am always tired, and cannot function any morning!

Help me!

Kick me up the arse!

xx

How do you sleep in the day when he is at home with you? Or have I misunderstood?

Anyway - advice. Stop drinking caffine loaded drinks, they stimulate your brain and that includes thinking you are hungry.

Summer is a great time to snack on really nice healthy stuff. I have a punnet of stawberries atm and some grapes, plums etc. A bit different to boring old apples Also have a look for some nice crackers/crispbreads - better than a Marsbar. There are some really nice ones about now, I have some Pumpkinseed ones which taste lovely, I ate a couple today instead of raiding the vending machine.

Also take a Packed Lunch and eat it at a proper break. Think of it as Lunch and make it a meal - I assume you will miss meals by sleeping in the day?

He goes to nursery 2 days and I sleep then, and on the third day my mum looks after him until 12.

I cant eat too much fruit (although I do) as it makes my stomach hurt!
But rice cakes - good idea! Although i like them with spread on. will swap for light philly.

Is there any other drinks i can drink to help keep me awake?
I work in a call centre you see, so it isnt like im a nurse or anything good, so not up and about, so at 4am im nealry collapsed if i only drink water. And the cold water is only in small cups, and we only get 3 mins an hour to go to the loo/drinks etc.

Thank you for your help

Have a big bottle of water?
Ditch the Philly and buy some organics apple rice cakes (baby food section in tesco) They are great!

Making a packed lunch and having an actual 'meal' is a good idea rather than snacking.

Night workers often have problems with weight, some putting it on in less active jobs, others struggle to gain weight in more active jobs. You are not eating during the day, and not eating 3 meals. Also sleeping as soon as getting home from work, something day workers wouldn't do.

A 9-5 worker gets home at say, half 5m had dinner and goes to bed 5 or 6 hours later. You get home at say, half 8, I presume you do not eat a large meal and then stay up til 2pm before going to bed. This messes things up, but I appreciate you have no choice.

So taking an actual meal and having it at say, 1 or 2am is a good idea.
For snacks, try carrot/cucumber/celery sticks and light philidelphia/hummous dip, Rice cakes, maybe a bowl of dry cereal to pick at.
Always have a bottle of water with you. I allow myself one can of coke a night, as I don't drink tea or coffee either.

Incorporating exercise can be really difficult though, personally, I make sure I go for a ten minute walk every day, its not much but it is literally all I can fit in. However, I and burn a shedload of calories dancing, so think this helps.

Good luck
