Will my apron belly improve with further weight loss and exercise

I’ve lost 3.5 stone and have approx 2 stone and 5lbs to get to goal.

my question is, am I ever going to lose my apron belly or will I realistically need to look at a tummy tuck when I’ve finished losing weight?

I weight train three times a week, run and I’m also on 2.5mg of Mounjaro. I am also working hard at upping my protein etc.

Yes it will do.

It will definitely improve but I think you may be like me and always have excess skin there unless it’s chopped off. Age and genetics will play a part too though. Well done on the weightloss.

Your tummy looks fairly firm considering you’ve already lost a good bit of weight so I’d be optimistic that further loss will improve the look. Plus you’re doing the right things re exercising etc. You might be a bit loose/ softer in the tummy when you hit goal but I don’t think you’ll need skin removal. Not that I have any qualifications to say that, just my opinion.

It will definitely get (a lot) better. Mine didn’t properly shrink until I was at goal and if I have a bad few weeks it goes straight back on my belly!
I think if you’ve had kids/a c-section you need to manage your expectations a little. There will be a bit of excess wrinkly skin & a bit of a shelf. Doesn’t bother me too much as it’s such an improvement. I can still look ok in fairly tight clothes but would be self conscious in a bikini.

Yes I'm at bmi 21.8 now and it reduced quite a bit from bmi 25 to now.

Well done on the training and looking great! Definitely will reduce a lot as you keep going. If you’re not already I’d use some skin firming cream/oil to help the skin adapt as you’re shrinking. I’ve found bio oil helps and there’s some nice options from Clarins. I did similar - tummy went much flatter as core got stronger and bmi down to under 22.

I think it depends on your age quite a lot. I think at 55 mine is here forever despite significant weight loss. I do swim 6 x week so there is muscle underneath but I don’t think there is any easy weight loss left for me. I’ve been on WLI for not far off 2 years and at the highest dose for a year. And BMI is still just over 30 though so maybe I’m wrong.

What does definitely help is reducing carbs, as a previous prediabetic and still insulin resistant, carbs bloat me up a lot so increasing protein and reducing carbs to below 100g a day makes a massive difference to flattening my tummy. Now I'm in maintenance I eat a lot more carbs and have noticed a difference with increased bloating and water retention. I haven't exercised at all but lowering my bmi through dieting helped. I'm almost 45 so have peri menopause symptoms too.

Thanks so much for the reassurance and tips everyone. Few lovely comments in there too much appreciated.

I go on holiday this week and while I no longer use that as an excuse to let go, I think the plan is to enjoy myself in moderation but when back to lock in with the protein, fibre, reduction of carbs, water and exercise. So hoping I can see some good results. I think once I hit goal and lose the next 2-2.5 stone like many of you say I’ll see it shifting. Need to cut the sugar too.

step by step, progress is good so onto the next phase
