Try a few more things or give in to the jab?

The battery in my scales were flat. I changed it today and I have gained another half a stone. I’m heavier than at 9 months pg. I’ve got 2 stone to lose. Calorie counting was so so. Fasting gives me migraines and I will stop it at the slightest discomfort.
anything else to try in peri meno? Thank you xx

Are you officially in the obese category if not I would try everything else before thinking about wli.
You say fasting gives you a headache but have you tried intermittent fasting? I find it is the only thing that works for me and it hasn't been difficult. All it means is I don't eat breakfast, , no snacks except fruit or veg, very little bread, light lunch and normal dinner. But controlling portion size.

No just overweight I qualify for the jabs though

I'm in peri and have gained weight due to it. I was underweight 3 years ago!

I'm following recommendations to eat 4 times a day, small meals, higher ratio of lean protein. I do count calories but not obsessively. For me, cutting out flapjacks and chocolate bars is key. My portion sizes are always small but if yours aren't thats something to address.

As always it's very individual what works. Fasting wouldnt work for me. I need regular meals but small ones and focusing on chicken, turkey, beans, lentils etc. And lots of vegetables. I also eat wholegrain rice, oats, potatoes, and quinoa. Soya yoghurts and oat crackers with almond butter as snacks. Healthy fats are fine in small amounts.

I've already started to lose a small amount. I am sedentary due to disability so this is all diet.

Good luck!

What is your BMI? I was obese grade 2 (BMI 36) for 35 years before WLI. Now is an overweight BMI 27. If I was just a bit over weight for a few years I wouldn’t try WLI. But they have been life changing for me.

Same. Peri is weird. I said to someone recently that my body is changing and not for the better. This is the first time in my life I've been overweight and unable to eat without thinking about my weight. I was always such a skinny thing. I weighed 6 and a half stone on my wedding day 20 years ago and I wasn't much more than that until 3 years ago. Strange times.

27.1 I weighed myself without heavy clothes. I’m still v shocked though

I started MJ in March 2025 - BMI 27 also. I have lost 20lbs over 12 months. BMI now just under 25. DH lost the same weight in the same time just with ex and not eating in the evening. I am 59 and struggled to lose weight, and in the last decade my weight had crept up. Historically I had done SW, I was a gold member of WW, I had done IF. - All had worked for a while. I was athletic, running, walking cycling swimming every week. Yet I was still overweight.

Anyway now I am just delighted to be in a healthy BMI. I really enjoy my clothes again. My weight loss was slow - the highest dose I've taken was 7mg. I had some SE - a kind of fatigue/low mood. I googled it and thought it was anhedonia. I don't have that any more but it really made me hesitate to increase dosage.

I can afford it, DH has the same result for free but mentally I was sick and tired of the diet cycle. My plan is to check my cholestrol in August as it has not come down but I had paused my statin.

Thinking about it, it has taken me thousands to lose 20 lbs 😬.

MJ does work. It is expensive and you may be subject to SE (side effects) or be in that significant portion of people who do not respond. but my experience has been overall positive

Sweetbeansandmochi · 30/05/2026 23:05

I started at BMI 27. I would just do it and save yourself the back and fourth. I have stayed at 2.5mg and I lost a stone within 10 weeks after not being able to lose anything for years. I am probably going to go up next month. I felt better, more mentally calmer, emotionally more stable, happier in my clothes, happier at exercise classes , and have only had three isolated cases of a bad stomach.
