Anyone doing the HBD diet currently?

Menopausal 50 something here and the weight has gone up considerably in the last years. I know all the things I should be eating but think I need a structured programme to follow. Just wondering if anyone is doing or thinking of doing the human being diet / hbd as it would be good to have some support?

Hi @choccyscot ivw just came across this diet today. I am thinking of starting in June.

How are you finding it so far?
Any tips?

I did this a few years ago (I'm 50, post-menopause). If you stick to it, it works. I lost the weight I needed/ wanted to. It was very hard to start with, but gets a lot easeir after the first 16 days. The very quick weight loss of Phases 1 & 2 motivates you to keep going...

However, like all 'diets', it doesn't last. Unless, I guess, you can stick in 'Phase 3/4' forever. But I think that's virtually impossible if you do any form of exercise, have a social life or want a decent amount of fibre in your diet!

But still, I'm glad I did it (not least because it helped me realise I'm lactose intolerant).

There used to be a really active community on Instagram and I got some great recipes from there. Particularly from a woman called Jemima something or other. I think it's less active on Insta since PR started the HBD subscription 'club'

Hi @Sleepeazie, yes I’ve been doing it just over a month now and it’s actually been pretty good! Surprisingly because I don’t normally do diets but the structure and strict rules have actually helped me to stick to it. For me it was to lose some of the menopausal weight that has gone on pretty fast in the last couple of years and so far I’ve lost 1 stone and just as importantly I’m sleeping so much better and feel calmer mentally.
phase 1 is pretty tiring only eating veg but it’s only 2 days so over before you know it. Gets a lot less restrictive once you get to p3 and can use olive oil for cooking.

There is FB group called Friends doing HBD which is helpful for any questions and the insta act that @FlappicusSmithmentions is Jemimas.table - not made anything from her posts yet but all looks delicious!
I would say just go for it (well easier if you have a reasonably quiet 2 weeks socially probably helps)

And as you can probably tell from the username I have a sweet tooth- that is probably the biggest impact so far that I’ve been able to reduce cravings

I followed in the past. As others say, the fast losses in the first 15 days are hugely motivational. However, it’s so restrictive that it’s really hard to covert to real life beyond a month or two. A lot of followers say, stay in phase 3 Monday - Fri and be more relaxed at weekends, but even doing that you aren’t getting enough protein or fibre. Esp if you want to exercise. Having said this, it’s a great tool to cleanup a bad diet, focus on eating single ingredients etc. you just need to keep in mind that unless you have zero desire for a social life / eating out, it’s a really tricky one to keep up long term!
