Anyone around to give me a pep talk?!

Okay, my general strategy with weight loss in the past has been to weigh myself, and then not weigh myself for 4 weeks. This helps remove the emotions of all the ups and downs.

Five weeks ago I started and weighed 12st 7, today I weighed myself and I'm 12st 12.

I am sort of on my period (on mirena so don't get much) but I just don't understand it. They've not been brilliant weeks but I have definitely eaten less and moved more than the months before, and my clothes feel less tight (I became ill last summer and it's taken a long time to recover- put on 1.5st in that time, just from eating rubbish and not moving at all).

Anyone got any pep talks they can give me?! Need some encouragement to keep going. Arghhh, it's so disappointing!!

I’ve had a bad weekend food wise as too much going on to plan meals so ended up snacking. Back on it now and hopefully will see a change soon.

I usually walk a lot but not every day so thought that may help but probably need to add a different form of exercise to my week so will try that, thanks.

I use an app called "eating buddy", not to track calories but just to keep an honest log of what I'm eating. What I've noticed is I snack more if protein has been low (unintentionally) and some days are just more snacky but if I do snack what the app does is prompt me to think "am I hungry?" and if not it asks why you're eating.

I know not everyone is down with eating a lot of fruit but I do keep fruit, dried fruit and unsalted nuts in the house so if I am snacky, that's what I eat rather than chocolate or a cake bar or something. While the latter is often lower in calories, they're also just full of air so don't fill you. At least with my alternatives, I'm getting a lot of fibre as well so it's filling and they're good for the gut microbiome.

@HelloDaisy sorry about the bad weekend. I've been pretty consistent until last night and then today. Some of it has been circumstantial- difficulties with a kid often leads me to reach for chocolate. So I kind of knew what I was doing.

Think the interesting thing is what will happen next? I'm hoping to get back on it so that the last day or two are just little blips rather than railroading everything. I'm 3lb down from when I started, but I'm feeling good in myself- less bloating, less cravings. Let's hope I can get back on track 😬

@Lemonthyme I know what you mean about reaching for dried fruit/nuts rather than cake or crisps. I totally agree that snacking on those (although I'm trying at the moment to only snack on veggies if poss) feels sooo different. Cake and chocolate feel great in the moment but don't fill you and just leave you wanting more.
