Can Anyone who has lost a lot of weight tell me how hard or easy you found it and how did you do it?😭 I need to change my diet and lifestyle as I’ve got 7 stone to lose. I can’t seem to get motivated but I’m so fed up being so over weight

Mounjaro. Best money I ever spent.

I have made a wholesale change to what and how I eat.

From heavy reliance on processed food and ready meals, to mostly cooking from fresh.

From meals plus snacks plus grazing plus bingeing to eating only meals

From a standard diet to low carb and virtually sugar free

I also do intermittent fasting

And I now work the Twelve Step programme of Overeaters Anonymous, and that helps me stick to the changes without compulsively overeating.

At my biggest I was over 22 stone. I’m now a bit under 14 stone. But - here’s the miracle - I have been wearing the same size clothes for over a year. Previously, big losses would have been immediately followed by rapid regain.

I agree with this @Usernameunavailableagain12 , I lost six stone and I’m quite little at 5’1” so that was a huge percentage of my weight. I didn’t in retrospect find it that difficult because the Mounjaro gives you head space to implement what you know you need to do but it did sometimes feel difficult because I felt my losses were slow compared to others, my average weight loss was 1.5Lbs a week but I’m older, post menopausal and have an under active thyroid which were all against me. I reached 15mg and am coming back down the doses now, presently using 7.5mg and the food noise and hunger are starting to bite again so I have another (life long) battle on my hands now to keep the weight off. I don’t intend to ever stop taking the medication because I’m as certain as I can be the weight would all go back on. I just live in hope that in the not too distant future the price will become more affordable for me and for everyone.

I have lost 5st in 10-ish months, just squirrelling away on the last stone (though that’s cosmetic, I have a normal BMI now).

Once it clicked for me, I found it quite easy (and yes, I have had millions of unsuccessful attempts before). Something was different this time, I think mainly my GERD not even responding to Omeprazole anymore and hoping that losing weight would help.

I have mainly cut out rubbish - before I was binge eating crap, having a lot of takeaways etc. I didn’t deny myself anything, I still snacked (I can’t go without snacking) but broadly made better choices. Tracked calories and was in a deficit.

I really believe it has to properly “click” to change behaviour without WLIs. (not criticising anyone taking them, but as a previous poster said, they are obviously a tool to make it easier to make the required changes. The changes obviously still have to be made). As I said, not sure how often I started losing weight but didn’t get further than a few kg….
