Any vegetarians trying to lose their belly fat?

Im vegetarian and middle aged.

Over the past year, I’ve piled on the pounds despite no change to lifestyle etc.

I want to keep my diet the same but lose the weight. Any advice?

Smaller plates (so looks the same amount) but smaller volume.

If you’re not willing to change what you eat then smaller portions and more exercise is probably the only option. It also really helped me to massively decrease snacks.

I'm similar , middle aged , menopausal , 2 DC , been vegetarian for 45 years .

Unfortunately ( I know this because I have posted similar ) spot reduction weight loss is nigh on impossible but exercise especially using resistance weights is the key . Also helps bone density .

I happen to like carbohydrates like rice and pasta . I eat some bread .
I don't eat a lot of fat because it flares up my (non existent ) gallbladder and I don't like butter or margarine .

Apparently this is No Good.

I do know any exercise is tough , I did more walking this week ( I was out and about as on leave) my leg muscles protested so much but eased now .

Smaller plates are not a think for me , I don't look at a plate and think "Well that looks mercenary" but I know I eat the wrong things . On holiday ( DH and I go on cruises) the restaurant meals are sparse , you can fill your boots in the buffet . But they are enough . I don't leave hungry .
I don't eat late at night or I get heartburn .

Start with more water maybe ? I always know when I'm getting dehydrated , I was told "5 glasses of water for every cup of coffee " (filtered coffee ) I gave it a try , to counteract the coffee and stop me drinking too much .

I will keep an eye on this thread for any advice

Apparently going for a short walk or doing some housework like vacuuming within an hour of eating really helps your body process carbs.
