I have just under 4 stone to use. I'm not doing fast diets but have joined a weight watchers programme for accountability. I've only lost a few pounds so far but it's consistent.

I'm just kind of...cold and miserable...I want vast amounts of carb and fat. Will I always feel miserable as its going to take quite a while at this rate. Honestly is a calorie deficit just miserable? Please give me the truth. If you are not miserable what is your diet consistening of? I'm also quite tired today from not enough sleep so maybe that's a part of it.

It feels miserable at first, but there does come a point where you no longer constantly want those things. You may have to push through this first bit but it’ll be worthwhile and you won’t feel miserable forever. Try and choose nourishing, protein filled foods and healthy fats. Carbs are not the enemy - a normal size portion of a carbohydrate is okay.
you may have to make peace with being hungry for a while

I’ll be honest. I lost my weight 7 years ago (9 stone in 9 months) and have kept it off and I’m very happy and confident etc. But I miss junk food every day, I miss loads of carbs. It’s a daily battle to maintain and that’s with exercise too. BUT being slim is better.
Maintenance is the hardest part because it’s forever. People who put lots of weight on love food. I wish I was one of those who didn’t care about it!

Are you doing any exercise? In my experience, it is so much easier to increase the deficit by working out and this really helps my mental health and body image too. Particularly weight training as more muscle burns more calories, if that’s possible for you?

a small deficit is better than no deficit or going over, so don’t be tempted to restrict too much.
