What did you eat in order to lose 8 stone+? And did it stay off?

Just that, please.I need to find a way to eat for the rest of my life using food that looks like food (no shakes or WLI!).And that gives me energy and is an unprocessed as possible.

Not quite that much, but over 4 stone off and I have kept it off.
TBH is doesn’t matter what you eat, as long as you are in a calorie deficit.

I regularly eat chocolate, but if I do I know I have to reduce calories in other meals that day to make up for it.

My Fitness Pal has been an absolute game changer. It’s tiresome to begin with, but once you have favourites and recipes logged in, it takes seconds to log your food.

You do have to accurately weigh and log everything you consume, but it has helped me make better food choices and it helps me keep on track. You also have to accept that you may feel hungry occasionally, because if you choose to eat (or drink) a high calorie item it means other meals that day may be smaller.

I wish MFP had been around in my 30’s. I might then have never needed to lose 4+ stone if it had!

My fibre and protein has increased, because fibre especially is very filling, and my carbs have really reduced. It means my plates can be satisfyingly full as I’m not wasting calories on things that aren’t so filling.

Quinoa and lentils added to stews/soups make a huge difference to the portion size you can have with a lot less calories than potatoes/rice for example.

I did low carb high fat, then moved into one one meal a day (also low carb high fat)

Ultimately it wasn't sustainable for me, I didn't address the underlying reasons about why I binge ate and why I was an emotional eater.

When I gave up the low carbing and started to eat "normally" the weight piled back on. Sorry, not a positive story 😂

I've lost 8 stone, but it took 20 years. I didn't really change the type of food I ate, but I changed the quantities, i.e. A LOT less food on the plate, far fewer snacks, etc., PLUS daily walking of 10k steps. I still eat chocolate, crisps, cakes, biscuits, chips, etc., 20 years later, got used to much smaller portions, and still doing 10 steps per day. Still losing about a pound per month.

Thank you! I have a bariatric portion plate, but still try to cram towers of food into it!!!! 😂 Did you have go to meals to help you stop getting distracted? I 'm trying to have about 10 main meals to rotate to start with, the other meal is sorted (Greek yogurt, berries, seeds and nuts) eating twice a day works for me, but I need to feel full, otherwise I binge.

Mumsnet’s low carb boot camp helped me to eat in a way to satisfy my appetite without triggering the highs and lows of the glucose rollercoaster.

Once my blood sugar levels were under control, I found eating well because much easier, the food noise inside my head just switched off

Also found Gillian Riley’s approach very helpful https://www.eatinglessonline.com/

Konjac is your friend! They do pasta, noodles and rice and it’s like 15 calories a portion and no carbs. I get it on Amazon and it’s made out of some sort of Japanese mushroom, I honestly have found its life changing and and so easy haven’t eaten normal pasta or rice since. I buy this one https://amzn.eu/d/gGMLyaf

I've lost six stone without jabs and eight stone eith. Clearly I didn't keep the weight off the first time, but ...

For me, low carb, high protein was the most effective way - but not as extreme as Atkins as that's just not sustainable. I currently avoid bread, pasta, rice etc - but include plenty of veg, fruit and beans and dark chocolate. I tend to switch the carb at dinner for more veg/salad.

I love cooking different things and so don't have regular meals I cook again and again. But chicken thigh and veg traybakes feature regularly, as do bean-based stews in winter and main course style salads in summer. Hard boiled eggs or hummus/carrot sticks as snacks.

Also key is building activity into your routine - cycling to work was perfect when I commuted and now I do lunchtime yoga or pilates every weekday. It all went to pot first time when I moved to a new city for a new job and then got pregnant, the combination of which stopped me cycling. Oh, and drinking too much ...
