What do you do when you get hungry? I've tried drinking water.

Eat! Seriously though if you're regularly hungry then look at what you're eating and adjust. Loosing weight shouldn't make you super hungry done right. Do you need to up your protein are you getting enough carbs? You can still loose weight, in fact arguably loosing weight via correctly balanced meals is the only way to do it so it stays off. Also look at when you eat. Has it been too long since your last meal? Try eating smaller portions more often? Drinking water and Herby teas can help with boredom eating/ reaching for snacks.

Look at what you are eating - and when

If you are trying to lose weight, up the protein, fibre and fruit and veg - all food that will leave you feeling full for longer

For me if I eat a white bread and and cheese sandwich for lunch , Im hungry within an hour and certainly wouldn't last till dinner, so now its a slice of wholemeal , piled high with salad, - rocket, tomatoes, beets, some pickles - like a sliced gherkin, then half a pot of cottage cheese and then a huge pile of protein - be it tinned fish ( my preferred choice ) or sliced chicken fillets or even ham . It takes ages to eat - knife and fork - and it keeps me full

Dinner , again it's a big pile of salad or veg on the plate first, then the protein, then the carb. Tonight Im having a full on roast chicken dinner, but most of my plate will be covered with carrot, cabbage and cauliflower, there will be on medium spud cut into 2 or 3 pieces and the rest will be chicken

If Im hungry later on then it's berries and greek yoghurt. I like mine plain, I find the berries sweet enough but a wee tea spoon of honey wouldn't go amiss

The only foods I keep in check are dairy - too easy to nobble a block of cheese or butter. I try to keep them to enough for calcium intake , without mindlessly eating them So I rarely butter bread now . Losing those calories dense foods without feeling like you are being deprived helps

And when totally feeling like my tummy is hanging out of me - beans. Chickpeas, lentils, butterbeans, black beans - whatever - into every wet meal I make - bolognese, stews, curries. Low calorie, high protein, full of fibre

can you say what you are typically eating?

I'm currently dieting. If I get peckish mid afternoon I have 2 ryvitta with cottage cheese. If I get the urge for a sweet treat I've found Mr. Kipling low cal cakes or Go Ahead apple bars. They are satisfying.

I've also invested in a small Nutribullet. I'm buying loads of fruit and when it's getting a little old you can pop it all in the mini blender with some skimmed milk and have a delicious milkshake. My favourite is banana and blueberries.

When I actually successfully lost a lot of weight (younger) I snacked on gherkins. Acquired taste obviously

Funnily enough, I eat far more pickled veg then ever , whilst controlling my weight. The crunch makes my brain feel like its getting a lot more then it is , and nowadays pickles arent the blow your brains out strength they once used to be. I no longer use butter or mayo as a moistener to a sandwich, now I use a grated beetroot ( Polish week Lidl ) tastes just like raw beets , or sliced gherkins or my fav - picked pink onions. I can even drink the vinegar of those

I even lile sauerkraut and Kiminchi now, just wee bursts of flavours, crunch and interest to something that could otherwise be bland, of no interest and mindlessly swallowed

Yes OP post your daily diet, you might be under eating

Girlintheframe · 29/01/2026 07:55

I would say hunger when dieting is normal but you shouldn’t feel like you’re ravenous!
Pay close attention to the foods you’re eating and notice which make you feel fuller and which ones don’t.
Volume eat, so usually loads of veg. Or egg whites to scrambled eggs for example, cauliflower rice to normal rice, half a plate full of veg/salad with your meals, berries to your breakfast etc. Basically add as much food as you can with lower calories

orangegato · 29/01/2026 10:28

My hunger is very disproportionate to the amount I need to eat, my MAINTENANCE calories are 1,300 as I’m quite petite.

Thing that marginally help, aside from eating enough fat and protein bla bla

Diet fizzy drinks
Zero calorie noodles
Berberine supplements
Distracting myself with housework
Tea and coffee
