it's my own fault I know, I've started running/going to a class/sit ups etc and some weight training thingys/trampoline which I had already, but after every session I do - esp the running i'm craving sweet things. it's a real need to replace the calories i've just worked off, which is prob why the scales haven't shifted in 2 weeks

my question is what is like a sugar thing but not, I want faster results than I'm getting damn it! it's been about 3 weeks, and can tell i'm fitter in myself, and my body shape has reduced but I need to move these here love handles i've got going on, n get my flat tummy back!

On the plus side thou i'm now fully down to pre DS weight, even if it's not pre ds shape

all tips, adives etc are welcome, I do like my choccy thou - but only have it at mums (stopped buying it) help!!!

Weight Watchers and Boots do some nice chocolatey bars which are low in calories.

I also like fresh pineapple or strawberries with low fat yoghurt on top.

wannaBe · 12/06/2008 13:45

muscle is heavier than fat, so you may simply be converting your fat into muscle and toning.

inches are worth more than weight but I do sympathize.

SpacePuppy · 12/06/2008 13:47

sweet fruits? flavoured water, it might be your body's need to replace fluids that makes you feel hungry, have you tried a low cal drink?

Enid · 12/06/2008 13:49

how often do you go?

otherwise have fruit and water

you have to break the craving or I agree, you won't lose weight...

davidtennantsmistress · 12/06/2008 15:02

sp - am thinking the fluids might be an issue yes, had some blackcurrent in my bottle today thou and it just didn't hit the spot as well as water does. so think I need water really for working out.

wannabe - I know inches are good, but also want lb's! lol.

enid - am going to 2 classes, and on my own 3 times a week, so doing 5 lots a week (which is a lot as prev I did nothing) guess I was just thinking that i'd have quicker results.

thats a lot

but you need to give up soft sugary drinks and crappy sweet food

water and fruit [stern]

mixedmama · 12/06/2008 15:58

what about something like weetabix and sweetner.... I could be completely wrong and I stand corrected if i am, but it is substantial without being bad for you.

Twinkie1 · 12/06/2008 15:59

Grapes and bananas - apparently women crave sweets and carbs after exercise that is why it is so much harder not to grab somethig nice afterwards.

You could always try those sugar free cream and strawberry sweet things or a meringue without cream on but with some muller light on it??

davidtennantsmistress · 12/06/2008 16:20

grapes you say - hmmm that's an idea actually it's around dinner time I usually do it so can have some grapes whilst doing our lunches - good thinking there.

Enid - will do, my last iced bun was today! have stopped all of the rest - mostly! lol.

grapes and bananas with fat free youghart or sugar free jelly

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/06/2008 20:08

Water is best. Have a banana afterwards.

Throw away the scales and go with how you feel/look. You need to do at least 45 minutes cardio, be puffed and a bit sweaty for it to be doing any good. 5x a week is fab, don't be lulled by this 30 minutes 3x a week stuff. Tis bollocks (scuse the language).

davidtennantsmistress · 13/06/2008 20:43

sag - i'm doing approx 35 mins of high intense cardio (apparently my heart beat is 180 ish so counts as high cardio), then half hour with my weights (or various thingys) the two classes I do are obv v high intense and last for an hour each.

I feel so much fitter & healthier, this week have noticed i'm not aching the day after doing the ex, so either it's working, or i'm not working hard enough? either way I'm alwasy hot n sweaty after/during (sorry tmi)

have got some grapes so will be munching on those in future and deffo water only for me from now on.

I don't like banana's really tbh althou I know they're fab for low GI food.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/06/2008 20:53

Hmm - I'm no expert but I think (?) you burn more calories working at a lower intensity but for a little longer or by doing intervals. You must be pretty much at max HR at 180.

davidtennantsmistress · 13/06/2008 20:54

yeah seems to be - not sure thou if I need to work on my breathing, resting heart rate is approx 86 bpm. (was v v unfit before)

OP posts:
Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/06/2008 21:04

I'm fittish (can run 10k) and my resting HR is generally 78. Max HR depends on your age too. I'm 44 and trying to keep my HR around 150-160 when I'm doing cardio.

davidtennantsmistress · 13/06/2008 21:07

i'm 26, so I think mine should be a lot lower??? (maybe I should work towards a slower heart rate when working out - does that come as you get fitter thou or with breathing? - a little unsure on how to control it)

OP posts:
davidtennantsmistress · 13/06/2008 21:15

according to the sites online, it says my max should be 226-my age, so max should be 200 - when it shows i'm up to 190+ on the moniter thingy should I worry? (perhaps I should see my dr?)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/06/2008 21:17

It's only approx if you don't use your resting HR calculate.

Have a look here Put in your age and resting HR and click calculate. Your should aim to be working with your HR in zone 3.
