I feel totally and utterly overwhelmed

I am nearly 17 stone, my BMI is 38 but I honestly just don’t know where to start with losing weight. There is so much information out there and I feel totally and utterly overwhelmed. But I know I HAVE to do something for my health. I tried WLI last year and I didn’t get on with them. I am thinking of trying slimming world, or maybe a meal delivery service to get me going.

Any tips or advice or resources would be most grateful!!

And yet on your other thread @2026willbemyyear you say you’re pleased to qualify for WLI under the NHS but there’s a waiting list - implying that you want them.

So what is it? Have you already tried them? Why would you want them if, as you say in your OP here, you didn’t get on with them?

Given the list of foods you supposedly ate yesterday, surely you know that so many carbs, so little veg/fruit/protein is not going to help you? Not sure why you say you’re overwhelmed - it’s obvious where you’re going wrong!

Well spotted.

op did you tell a little fib? You could have just said you can’t afford them. You didn’t respond on that thread and let it drift too, was it weight management clinic you were referred to, not put on some mythical mounjaro waiting list?

@Charlenedickens I must admit I did everything right on MJ and still felt like crap on a low dose for 3 to 4 days a week - however in all honesty I have good willpower when I put my mind to it , so realised I didn’t really need it- just needed to keep up the willpower for months and months- not weeks as I had done before. OP will know if she has that kind of willpower or not

Yes a small percentage do sadly. However doesn’t look like rhe ops ever tried them,

What I ate yesterday:

Toast with butter and orange juice

Nescafé cappuccino with a chocolate or 2

Beans on toast with cheese and a bit of mayo

Crisps with sour cream dip

2 canned cocktails

Pasta with sauce and cheese, salad dressing and mayo as condiments

2 garlic bread ciabattas with mayo

Chocolate

Lemonade

Diet Coke

It’s bloody terrible I know. I have done calorie counting in the past but found I was still eating rubbish which slowed the weight down. I tried mounjaro and honestly just hated the way it made me feel, plus the cost was ridiculous.

Well some really easy and obvious changes you could make right there. Toast isn't a good breakfast, choose something high in fibre, with protein and that fills you up. Add more veg. You don't need mayo with everything. Pasta and sauce with cheese doesn't need additional condiments

You can easily make a start here without having to worry about searching for information.

Ditch the toast in favour of protein for breakfast eg scrambled eggs or have scrambled eggs and one piece of toast. Ditch the orange juice, it’s all sugar.

The Nescafé cappucino probably isn’t too bad but ditch the chocolates and have a banana to see you through to lunch time.

Beans on toast isn’t too bad spill if you don’t have much time but that’s 2 servings of bread in one day already so I’d replace one of them. And definitely ditch the mayo.

Ditch the crisps and sour cream dip, have some more fruit for an afternoon snack or a couple of crackers with cream cheese.

Canned cocktails, only for special occasions not a Monday night.

Salad Dressing and mayo on pasta with sauce and cheese???

Do you mean 2 full ciabattas or 2 halves? One half would be enough.

Chocolate, depends how much, you could still have a little treat if you’ve ditched the morning chocolate.

Lemonade is empty calories unless you’re drinking diet lemonade and water would be better, you don’t mention any water but if that’s too many changes at once, stick to Diet Coke.

Not sure the op is coming back, she seems to start threads that are not completely straight then run away, hopefully she does come back as I do think she is bordering morbid obesity and needs some help.
