To be spiralling a little about food/weight gain/bingeing over the festive period

I've lost almost 4 stone over the last 2 years (most of it in the first half of this year using Mounjaro). I'm still "micro-dosing" with MJ and whilst it's easier than it's ever been before, I'm absolutely panicking about the next few days/weeks.

Most of our Christmas food is here and set out ready for feasting. Huge selection of chocolate and sweets on the coffee table, cracker station on the island, cheese board in the fridge, enough carbs to kill a horse etc etc.

I've been nibbling and definitely eating a bit more the last few days but weighed this morning and I'm 2lb under my target weight so all good. I'm just so bloody anxious about what's ahead.

I'm a classic binge eater and I know I want to loosen the reins a little so I can enjoy Christmas but I'm also terrified of letting the binge monster loose.

I'm turning fifty in 2026 and I can honestly say that whilst I've been skinny, average, fat and huge variously at Christmas over the years, this one feels like the first Christmas I've ever been consciously aware of having any sense of control. I don't want to lose that but I also don't want to ruin the holiday for myself and my family by being a psychopath around food. Help!!!

I let the beast out for 2/3 days at Christmas then back to restriction, and because it’s satisfied it lets me go for a long time undisturbed.
the gained weight is off within a week

You’re micro dosing? Double your dose for this week so the desire to snack is less?

Feelikedancing · 24/12/2025 19:16

I haven't bought the chocolate es that I normally buy, haven't missed them, they would normally be out on the table, but I just haven't bought them, there's other Christmas food, but even though I'm only micro dosing I don't want it.
I have been mindful of watching what I eat because losing it is a pain and I like the clothes I've got now as per a PP.

how are we all doing? So I’ve completely overindulged the last few days. My tummy is not happy! I defiantly can’t tolerate breaded items like I used to be able to.
Anyway, we are where we are. Gym at 7am tomorrow & my meals are all planned on nutracheck to get me back on track.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 26/12/2025 21:08

I was working yesterday but did indulge in crisps with hummus and picky bits when I came home and today we had our Christmas dinner which was huge!

I’ve been for a long walk and to the gym today so I do feel I’ve maintained some control. I normally weigh myself daily but I won’t weigh tomorrow as I’m full of food!

I have started to eat small amounts of 72% dark chocolate regularly with the aim of working up to 90% chocolate so normal Christmas chocolates don’t appeal to me so much thankfully!

I’m back at work tomorrow and I’ve meal prepped so a normal day for me hopefully.

I’ve not counted calories for two weeks now and have managed to stay the same weight. I’ve lost three stone this year from calorie counting and only have a stone to go so am pleased as it seems my new eating habits have changed for the better.

hby9628 · 26/12/2025 21:29

@socks1107thats amazing well done!

I did step on the scales today but I bloat so easily it’s hard to get worried about it. A couple of days of eating properly & being active again and I’ll be back to where I was. I’ve enjoyed relaxing for a few days but ready to get back into a good routine. I find if I don’t meal plan/prep I don’t really know what to eat

brilliantjustbrilliant · 26/12/2025 21:30

I lost seven stone on mounjaro.

to be honest, December has been a write off for me. Very little exercise and a lot of food. I’m apparently nearly a stone up. That’s bollocks and I know it. I’ll be back to it within a day or two and I’ll feel so much better.

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2025 21:38

I basically ate to my normal daily routine yesterday albeit the timings slightly changed and I had 2 glasses of wine. I didn’t have any chocolates or pudding because I just didn’t fancy them.
Today I’ve mostly snacked on ham and sausage rolls so all in all not bad but not especially nutritious.
I have an exercise class tomorrow morning at 7 so it’s business as usual for me from tomorrow. It’s also weigh day Saturday so I’m intrigued although it’s Christmas and I haven’t massively overindulged and other than yesterday where I didn’t leave the house all day the rest of the week I’ve eaten normally and exercised as usual so not really expecting to see much of a change on the scales tomorrow.

I really don't understand buying all that high calorie food - putting sweets out on the coffee table and so on. Are the rest of your family at a healthy weight? Why encourage them to gain too?
